View Full Version : Street Tracker from a Buell
barrowsr 16th March 2008, 03:00 Has anyone explored the possibility of starting a street tracker project with a Buell? The light weight, sporty performance and handling are already there. There might be a way to graft on an XR style fuel tank and seat. Swapping the bars and exhaust - even a custom exhaust should work? Surely someone has done this!

Ralphthe3rd 17th March 2008, 17:25 You're kidding right ?! I mean the XB's are totally WRONG, and the tube Framers with undermotor shock and wide tube frame over the motor would not be fitting to a smaller Flattracker style fuel tank. Sure the Buells handle great, but a streetracker is about mimicing a flattrackers looks...and no Buell with a stock Buell frame will ever look like a flattracker !
:sporty:
barrowsr 17th March 2008, 20:56 No Ralph, I wasn't kidding - that's why I asked the question. Thanks for pointing out why it wouldn't work.

Joe Dirt 17th March 2008, 21:22 Yep, just too porky for a streettracker.
Another idea, a tuber Buell would be good for a modern XRTT style road racer project.

That's a very nice bike! Buell power for a street tracker would be perfect. To get an idea of how the Buell chassis would look, here's an XB road racer with a dirt track style seat.

Ralphthe3rd 19th April 2008, 13:02 It just don't mix well :frownthre But it's a slight improvment (IMO) on the looks of an XB Lightning, but I still wanna HURL when I see a FUEL Framer !http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/barfshower.gif

Rags 19th April 2008, 16:19 The Buell powered I posted, did not have a Buell chassis. the builder displayed one at the Daytona's dirt track race, it was beautiful.
But the rake&trail were too extreme for street use, it was a racing bike. They do a nice job of building.

Yep, all frame and no engine. Fine bikes, but not street tracker material.
The Buell powered I posted, did not have a Buell chassis.
That's kinda the point, that the Buell frame isn't right for a street tracker.
naviddd 15th May 2008, 04:15 Here are moch-up pics of my 984cc Buell XB9s engine in a new C&J XR750 monoshock flattrack frame. I had to change frames because bad ankles could not take the sportbike posture. Was hoping to finish it by this fall for our yearly all motorcycle drag race Red Cross fund raiser however its for sell as is for $10k or $15k finished
Ralphthe3rd 15th May 2008, 04:28 Thats more like it, although the tank looks all wrong. And solid mounting that engine is gonna make it vibe alot more than when it was in a rubber mounted XB.
But thats gonna be Sweet ! And actually very close to an actual XR750...the weight should be the same, and the stroke is the same. Are you using the Downdraft EFI or are you swapping to a carb ??
BTW- I hate to tell you this, but you're NEVER gonna get that kinda $$$ for it, even if it was finished ! People who WANT a streetracker -Build their own, they don't BUY them, just ask Steve Storz.
