I was washing my bike the other day, and I have found that it is a serious pain in the rear to clean those laced wheels. What are some ways you (Laced Wheel owners) clean your wheels?

Thanks!

I use a brush for the most part, thin one with bristles all the way around it and goto town, then if i want to polish them, i get strips of a rag and wrap it all the way around it one whole time, so when i pull the back and forth it gets buffed all the way around.

For seriously crudded up spokes i have tried a dremmel tool, but it does not fit the work very well. What works better is strips of sandpaper used as gearhead suggests. For general cleaning i use a brush as he describes, purchased at an auto parts store [Canadian Tire], and marketed as a spoke cleaning brush.

The only issue I have had with my laced wheel is some pitting on the radius of the curve from rim to spokes....I used light steel wool and rubbing compound, and they are fine.

Everytime I wash her, I have to be careful to dry the rim on that radius....

The spokes themselves, I don't usually worry about them...but the strips of rag thing gearhead mentioned will polish them nicely...

Wash? Bike? What is that? :p

Actually, I wash my spokes like the rest of my bike, with a clean rag, soap, and lots of water.
That is when I wash it.
If the weather is good, I'm out riding, not washing. :tour
