I know somone besides me races - legaly or not. :shhhh

I just had a race the other day, befor I started my conversion.

It was against one of those rice banger 4 cyl hondas with the coffie can exaust. My little 883 blew him away. Shure it wasn't a sanctioned event, but it was "good clean fun". And, in my openion, I won! So ha - I get to be the first racer to post in this forum ever. :clap Wow that was cool. Well I think I will go and :drinkbeer,

12 people have looked at this thread so far and you are telling me that not one of the people at this sight besides me even pretends to race.....a little.....from stoplight to stoplight??????????

I think someone isn't being honest with themselves!

Hardly any of us street race.
It is bad for the paint.

I was one of the 12 people who looked here, but I didn't say anything because I gave up street racing 2 years ago when I sold my Corvette.....Now I just cruise on the Sporty and enjoy the scenery. :D

True, most of us have a lot of money in our bikes and racing , at least street racing is hard on the equipment and doesn't pay. Although I must admit I enjoy dusting off the occasional BT when they come up to me at a red light from time to time. It's not really that much fun though, like shooting fish in a barrel :p

It's been a couple years since I've raced. Last race I had was against a Nissan 300ZX TT. I downshifted from 5th to 3rd and then Pop! Clank, Clank, Clank. I blew a hole in my piston. :(

The time before that was against a supercharged Formula. I thought it was just a regular formula until I heard that nasty whistle under the hood. He would only race from a role so he bust train lengths on me. I guess my racing career has not been very successful lately. :(

I did race big inch softail when I was living in Florida. I beat him in acceleration and deceleration. He ended up blasting through a red light due to being heavier with a single disc. Glad it was a light that led into a dealership. Ever since I have thought about where I am racing and if the person next to me knows their vehicles capability well enough to not endanger someone elses life.

For those that do street race, please think twice about what you are running against and where. I think these two simple thoughts will help when you decide to play against the odds.

Ride safe. Ride Smart.

With my 92 sporty 883/1200 conversion with all the go fast goodies I was able to take my friends ZX6 up to 100mph at which point he went past me like I was going backwards.

But it was a fun run to 100 and see the look on his face that his big bad Ninja got smoked by a sporty.

Dont usually race on my Sporty, Ive got nothing to prove to anybody, however last time I raced in a car (my 1970 1/2 Ralley Sport Special addition, 350 HP Corvette motor, Hurst Close ratio Shifter, Muncie 4 speed, big ol cam, headers and a Holley double pumper)(this was when I was 20), I went to jail for Exhabition of Acceleration, the cops said they heard me way before they even saw me... 30 punch, but I smoked that other guy so bad the cops didnt even know we were racing LOL

Well...wasn't really a race and the outcome probably won't be very popular here, but...my son rides a Triumph that I built back in the mid '70s. Basically a Bonnie bottom end and reworked TR6 heads, 750 kit and 32mm Amal. He's done some mods on the frame and whatnot...whole thing weighs in at <300 lbs.
We were sitting at a single lane stop light behind a smoke belching 18 wheeler. Road turns into four lane after the light so I nodded for him to go ahead. He passes the 18 and pulls back in. I sucker punched him with what I had left of second gear, redlined third and shifted out of fourth at 95 and held my speed there. Checked the mirror to see where the kid was, and was shocked to see him just behind me and gaining fast! At that point we both rolled out and took and the exit ramp and stopped at the next intersection. He just looked over and grinned. We both knew that in a real race, he'd have handed me my *ss. Ain't the BTs you have to watch for, it's them danged Brits.

There is street racing and real racing . Once I went real racing , I realized street racing proved nothing , and was risky and foolish . I use my Sporty for nice relaxing rides . If I want to race , I'll use my race bike on the track

I go light to light all the time with my buddy. He bought a Honda that took second overall in AMA several years ago. We put lights and a plate on it to make it legal. Of course he can beat me, but it's always worth the smile on his face when he sees how close I stay to him. I just hate that I'm in third while he's still in first!
