View Full Version : Screamin' Eagle rumours?
Mr Davo 20th January 2005, 11:24 Talked to my dealer today about booking in for the Stage 1, he says I should order the parts now because SE may not be in business that much longer - apparently legal hassles worldwide threaten it, someone in the powers that be must've noticed that the racetracks aren't that full of "closed competition only" Fat Boys & Softails.....
Anyone else know about this, or is it a way of getting me to buy all the goodies ASAP? (Not that I'm cynical)
bplinson 20th January 2005, 11:27 Cycle Shack is gonna be very upset to hear about this.
I think he just wants you to spend your money right now!!! And I would find another dealer.
Tell him to back up his statements with something on paper.
stevo 20th January 2005, 11:30 tell him you'll wait for the "going out of business" discounts ........ ;)
gordy 20th January 2005, 11:48 Hi Davo
I doubt they are going out of business but a lot of European countries seem to be having problems getting SE pipes due to noise pollution controls as far as I'm aware they are now illegal in France and the French police are certainly looking out for bikes with loud pipes.
If your going to use them in France keep off the throttle when going past the cops. Or drill out your stock pipes there isnt much difference in the performance
bplinson 20th January 2005, 11:49 I just shot an email off to Cycle Shack to see if there is any truth to this nasty rumor.
willprevale 20th January 2005, 16:12 That the gov't may be planning to create federal legislation is almsot a foregone conclusion given the huge number of motorcycle enthusists that feel it's necessary to rattle windows. For many years it's been endemic and limited pretty much to the HD community but nowadays everybody's getting into the act. While I wouldn't panic, I'd certainly give some credence to the thought. Just my .02 cents worth.
Nightboy 20th January 2005, 18:41 Screamin Ealge(AKA: HD) Isnt going to be going out of business anytime soon. They sell more aftermarket parts to Harley enthusiasts than all other aftermarket mfg's combined. Thats a fact.
gordy 20th January 2005, 19:18 True but the SEII pipes and the like could soon be unusable if the trend in some areas continues.

In Italy the problem is different form areas to areas.
But here in Italy there're two companies who produce exhaust with a mechanical butterfly that you can open and close whenever you enter into residential areas or see cops.
A switch and an electrical engine does the job.
The brands are Double Fire and MCJ.

where you been dude? the original post was way back in 05 and you're saying bs now? in case you haven't noticed, the se stuff that we all know and love is missing from the catalogs. sure there are still se pipes, but they are 50 state legal now. not the same.
theres change in the wind, and its not in our favor folks.
kornflake 30th January 2007, 07:13 i think the loud pipes law is because of all the japinese race crochrocket type bikes make so much noise thay prought to much atenchion to themselfs
ezcuse my spelling.

semjpm 30th January 2007, 07:55 Anyone notice that in the 05 SE book the XL aircleaner was 49 state legal and in the 07 book the same AC is race only?

Big-Ed 31st January 2007, 12:16 Its true, but there not going out of business... Over here in Glasgow, Scotland, your lucky if you can get any proper performance screaming eagle parts (for race/closed circuit use parts) Aparently there going for the option that you will now need to show you hold a race licence before they would supply you with the SE parts. Im having a nightmare sourcing another SE race ignition (7500 rpm) & coil unit for my 1998 sportster sport, Had one die on me ages ago & now decided to get some spare bits & pieces before I cant get them again.
