I just received my Sportster Edition DVD, and I give it a pretty good grade. It is aimed toward those that are not super mechanically inclined, but, used in conjunction with the factory service manual, even a new rider should be able to do the basic maintenance stuff. I'm one of those "visual" types- sometimes reading the instructions leaves a lot to be desired, but if I see something done, then I'm usually good to go. Worth the money, Imho...:tour

Also,

A couple of weeks ago, I also got the "Ride like a Pro III" DVD demonstrating the training techniques used by LE motor officers (by Jerry "Motorman" Palladino) , and can't wait for Spring to practice some of the more complicated techniques. I've worked on a couple of things, and the tips really helped. :clap

It's finally out? Yayyy!!!!! (Took 'em long enough!) :clap

I guess I know what I'm getting myself after Christmas (besides grips, cables, pegs, an air cleaner,...).

I got my copy, too! I'll go along with Freestate and give it a thumbs-up for those who have not done much mechanically. I've only been through the tools intro and first 3 chapters so far, but I can see it's going to be a big help for me. I watched a chapter, then read the same procedure in my service manual, and it made those words much more understandable. Having the visuals is a big plus, for me anyways. Here's what they cover on the first DVD:

It also came with a bonus DVD:

Is this in word and picture form (like a book)? Or is it movie clips with sound? If it is movie clips, does it have the option to have captions? I have a computer in my garage with no speakers. Just curious if I could use it out there. Thanks.

Right on! I heard it was coming out... thought it sounded pretty cool, I know I'm gonna order it - I am a visual guy too. I mean, I could probably follow the service manual and get through it but with a video, I think I'd know I was getting it right. Thanks for the heads up...

It's a video (DVD) with sound. I think there is a script available, if you register your copy on their site.

I just got a copy myself. Saw it advertised in Hot Bike and decided to check it out. Very impressive! I also like seeing someone else do something first. Takes so much of the "Duh" factor out of it. I would recommend it to anyone with a bike.

I just received my sportster edition DVD and was very pleased with the product and the timely shipping. The information is great for someone like me who wants to do their own maintenance and doesnt have much experience. I also screwed up during the online billing portion and wound up "debiting" two different cards...I emailed Dennis at Fix My Hog and he was very prompt in his response and assurances that only one card would get charged.....and on top of that he emailed me back a couple days later to make sure everything was okay. Not to many company owners do that I'm sure. Thanks Dennis. :clap

Well for a dunce like me, this is a great product. I don't know how much of this stuff i would try on my own, but at least i know how it's supposed to be done. The manual only gets me so far, this way i can see what going on, and replay and replay again and again.

I got my DVD yesterday and watched the first disc. It's a really good product that will help anyone how to service their bikes. I'm glad that they are supporting the XL forum and hope they come up with other DVDs for the Sportster.

Are these DVD's for certain year models or is it generic information?

Sporty DVD is for the the rubber mount ( at least the bike they use is), some things I'm sure will apply to both, rigid and rubber. There is a special section for 2003 or earlier brakes if my memory serves.
