i bought one today, i like the flip up feature, was it worth the $$ HD wants for em? i tried a fulmer brand with the flip up chin bar, but it only came in a red/ burgandy color. i like the style of the HD one better. anyone have an opinion on it?

Ok, Harley does not make it's helmets, they are a Item they have made for them by a helmet company.
There are made to Harley's spects, so in that they are at a quality level that Harley Approves of.

But I have found you get a better deal by buying the same model strait from the manufacturer without the middle n=man mark up.

I believe HJC makes the HD helmet. I have the HJC one, and i'm getting the HD one next!

I liked the helmet and bought a HJC one without the HD stickers on it. found it online for $180. I like the helmet and had my wife try it, she liked it so much I gave it to her. If your going to buy one and want the best deal, you can buy a HD one, get it from zanottis. here's their web site.

The HD Modular Helmets are made by HJC. I own the HD one and then bought the HJC one. I enjoy the helmets especially when it comes to drinking something on the road as I don't have to take my helmet completely off.

What remains to be seen is what happens with these helmets during a crash when you have a chin strike as the button to release the flip up portion of the helmet is located at the apex of the chin.

Also, since they are an HJC Symax helmet really, you can get parts from HJC on line.

I got a smoked faceshield, a spare clear one, and when I lost some weight I got the padding for the size Large. (I had bough XL).

The HD one is a great helmet. But so is the HJC and it costs a lot less.

But, it does fit well and the flip-up thing is cool. I wouldn't buy one again though.

Has anyone see the Nolan Outlaw model in person... I like the look of this one and since my helmet is over the 5 year safety age I might just try it.
