Use a lexan polish like novus.. Or spit... Yeah, spit... Ask a diver.. :) thatbikerguy 18th December 2005, 18:45 All I did was start breathing out of my nose. Someone told me to do that... I didn't realize that i wasn't doing that already. 68B_Body 18th December 2005, 18:52 All I did was start breathing out of my nose. Someone told me to do that... I didn't realize that i wasn't doing that already. i tried changing my breathing from mouth to nose, nose to mouth, didnt make a diff, still foggs up. tried messin with the vents opening, closing em didnt make a diff either. 68B_Body 18th December 2005, 18:52 Ask a diver.. i dont know any divers... BlueBear 18th December 2005, 18:55 I usually just leave my face shield up one click... that and breath through your nose as someone else has advised. wreker 18th December 2005, 19:04 I bought this but haven't tried it yet. Here is a nice review: I found mine at Eastern Mountain Sports Cat Crap (http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet-visor-anti-fog/) Paintball players seem to like it too. Paulie420 18th December 2005, 19:15 Well, I just bought my full face yesterday. BUT, I bought this stuff when I got the helmet. Scott Anti-Fog Cleaner Scott USA (http://www.scottusa.com) You sprat it on, let is sit for a while and wipe it dry. After two coats, the fog still came a bit yesterday. BUT, I was riding in some rain... so I bet that had a lot to do with it. Johnny G 18th December 2005, 19:15 Cat Crap , Thats what I want on my lenses:roflblack :roflblack :roflblack Kenny 18th December 2005, 19:27 I usually just leave my face shield up one click... that and breath through your nose as someone else has advised. Same here, and find a vent combo that aint too cold. once I get up to speed I click back down. Now My nose is quite large so it sends a good breeze out the bottom of the helmet and helps keep my chest warm too. :D Piggy 18th December 2005, 19:33 I am thinking about trying that cat crap stuff but I was just wondering what the cat in question has eaten before hand. If it was anything containing peanuts or corn forget it. TOXOTES311 18th December 2005, 19:56 shaveing cream smear it on wipe it off use no h20 68B_Body 18th December 2005, 19:59 Cat Crap , Thats what I want on my lenses:roflblack :roflblack :roflblack ill check the litterbox before buying it. see if the authenic cat crap will work also. Piggy 18th December 2005, 20:22 ill check the litterbox before buying it. see if the authenic cat crap will work also. That crap don't work. hero 18th December 2005, 20:29 A fogcity. Ditto.. . Lynk 18th December 2005, 21:23 Man, with the weather dipping into the 20s at night, I feel your pain. "Cat Crap" is awesome stuff. In fact, I think I might run down to the local swimming supplier to see if I can find some... yeah, I'm serious, swimming supplier. See... the guy who mentioned "spit," was serious too!!! I just don't think that I could manage to make up enough of the stuff to adequately cover my shield. I used to spit in my swimming goggles all the time, years ago. So, in addition to "Cat Crap," I would suggest some common dish soap. A buddy at my local shop mentioned it the other day, and a test run proved rather nice results last night... I even got pulled over for doing 80+... must not have felt too anxious from fogging. :) Anyway, the cheap method is to use enough liquid dish soap to create a thin film on the visor. Rub it on, wait about five minutes, then rub it off. If you can get your hands on "Cat Crap" or "Fog Tech," then that's the pro route. ;) toe 18th December 2005, 22:27 Forgot what it's called, but for my full-face I got this little attachment that velcros into the helmet so your breath doesn't get to the visor. Looks like the oxygen mask fighter pilots have. Ed Shark Doctor 18th December 2005, 22:33 I use dive mask anti-fog liquid... Works just fine. Any dive shop will carry. TomW 19th December 2005, 18:26 This topic has floated around before, but I'll re-iterate what I hav used in the past. On my Glasses and mirrors I like to use Zooke Wax. Works very well but you have to clean it off and reapply it every so often. Its available at some snowmobile, and sky shops for use by winter sportsman I think. I originally found it in a scooter shop. Their web link is at: http://zooke.com/shop/catalog.php Another product I use is the FogCity face sheild insert. The one I have also darkens in color in bright light sort of like those transition lenses for your eye glasses. It also helps reduce fogging of the shield by creating a thin pocket of air between the shield and the insert that acts as some insulation! Fog City products are available at many cycle shops, and via Mail order from companies like J&P or JC Whitney. In addition here is their web site. http://www.helmetharbor.com/fogcity/fogcityinfopage.htm Using these things I have ridden in temperatures as low as 18 deg F with little fogging of my shield! Tom W Scooter Shooter from Michigan SC_Compact 19th December 2005, 18:47 I bought this but haven't tried it yet. Here is a nice review: I found mine at Eastern Mountain Sports Cat Crap (http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet-visor-anti-fog/) Paintball players seem to like it too. I bought some last year and it really doesn't help too much. I have heard good things about the Fog City Fog Shields. sage 19th December 2005, 20:25 Ask a diver.. :)[/QUOTE] I usually use kelp or seaweed. Some of my diving buddies swear -toothpaste- works as well as anything else. Opinions differ as to brand. Opinions differ as to brand. The gel types seem to be most popular. If you're a diver, you should be using *spit*! :) sage 19th December 2005, 22:17 I'm a diver who suffers from chronic cottonmouth. And after partying all night, the taste in my mouth sometimes bears an astonishing resemblance to........ -cat crap- :laugh Sandman883 19th December 2005, 23:16 I usually use kelp or seaweed. Some of my diving buddies swear -toothpaste- works as well as anything else. Opinions differ as to brand. The gel types seem to be most popular. I'd be careful of the toothpaste. It may work, but it has a mild abrasive in it, may not be too good to smear it on a visor, could scratch it. :) Edster 13th January 2006, 02:26 I read in one of the motorcyle rags that dish soap works well. I tried it and it seems to work great for about a week and a half or soand I commute everyday. Just put a dab (full strength) on a towel and smear it on, let dry a little take the clean dry part of the towel and "buff" it off. Its cheap and it works well. Bullshark 13th January 2006, 02:32 In the 'full-face only' sportbike world, alot of folks swear by Lemon Pledge. I tried it and it works well. Spray on and wipe with a soft cloth. Smells good also. Steve3888 14th January 2006, 10:41 What about eye glasses? I have a Fogcity insert on my visor, only problems is that it doesn't prevent my glasses from fogging up. If I don't wear my glasses won't be ridding very long... or walking for that matter lol. IronMick 14th January 2006, 18:53 Try some Pledge furniture polish. Jiminator 5th February 2006, 20:21 I also use the zooke....works very well. Gives you about 5 days or so between applications, but you only need a very small amount on the shield or your glasses if you wear them. Pretty amazing when you come in from the cold, and your glasses don't fog up when you hit the warmth indoors. Well worth it for your face shield...glasses or even your detachable windshield that I have. Works great on all of them! blacksmith_wills 11th February 2006, 13:57 Bought one of the following masks. Worked good out in they yard, in still air. Will try it on the bike Sunday. Absolutly no fog during the 10 minute "yard" test at 38 degrees F. I sounded like some kind of demented Darth Vader out there huffing around in the yard trying to get it to fog. Pulled it down so I could breathe into the helmet normally, instant fog over the whole visor. So far so good. Will let you know how the ride goes. Velcro's into your helmet. http://www.helmetharbor.com/gear/respro/foggy_opening.htm |
