Paulie420 25th December 2005, 03:40 I bought a pair of REALLY CHEAP $60 bags on eBay... just to test like size and shape. The expensive ones can get... really expensive. If I were to spend the big bucks, I would get the HD ones that are quick detachable. They connect right to the frame, you can have one or both sides hooked up and they pop right off when you get to the hotel... But, it wouldn't be a bad idea to order a pair of cheapies to make sure its the STYLE of good ones you want. My cheapies have lasted a while, with NO mounting brackets too... they did get wet in rain and didn't do very good. Still hanging in there tho! Later... arjay 7th January 2006, 17:12 I don't personally own these, but everything I've read on them, anywhere, has been good: http://www.leatherpros.com/ http://www.bossbags.com/ They're actually brothers I have heard. Call them if you're still interested. I understand they're very helpful, and just good folks. They're quality products and have a premium price as well. Again, I have no personal experience with these bags at all, but I've never seen anything negative written about them. merc 7th January 2006, 17:19 i got those cheapo bags on ebay for something like 30 bucks. used them all summer. They are still ok-but too small. Need to get some bigger ones. Kelley 7th January 2006, 17:27 I have pictures of the ones I have at this thread and more in my gallery http://www.xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?t=19511 Not cheap but good quality and ease of on/off the bike. GnFishn 16th January 2006, 17:21 Here are pics of my Saddlemen Drifter 5393 saddlebags that I just bought from Sorgy for $119 plus shipping. They are very sturdy, water proof and look really nice. I'm really like them. Sportster Girl 16th January 2006, 18:35 Here are pics of my Saddlemen Drifter 5393 saddlebags that I just bought from Sorgy for $119 plus shipping. Chucky 16th January 2006, 18:53 Saw these guys at a show this weekend. Nice looking leather throwovers and looked to be real good quality. More pricey than the others though. Chucky 16th January 2006, 18:55 Oooops! Forgot the link. www.bikersoutfitter.com GnFishn 16th January 2006, 19:30 I bought them from Sorgy and the only thing they require is the saddlebag mounts available from the MoCo or from Saddlemen. They aren't too expensive, I think they are under $75. I've had the brackets for 2 years so I don't remember exactly what I paid for them. The bags are NOT leather but the straps are. They're made in California and Saddlemen sent a velcro strap to me for free since the yolk is too short without it. These are a "large" model but to me, they are a little small. With a Sporty though if you put really large bags on it they look out of proportion to the size of the bike. If you need "touring" bags then maybe you need a bagger. This model of bag is a great fit and installation is easy. I really like the fact that they're made in the US and the company is very responsive to it's customers. My previous bags were River Road and while they were ok for $75, they were a little flimsy. I'll post a picture of them and if someone wants to merely pay shipping on them then I'll give them away. Again, I have no personal experience with these bags at all, but I've never seen anything negative written about them. I'd second all that. Some Leatherpros 3000s bags are on their way to me, should be arriving any day. Garry Campbell was very pleasant to deal with. |
