I need something to keep my hands warmer, and due to bad circulation I know that grip warmers won't cut it, and heated gloves are too expensive. I've only seen these two styles of handguards and they look like they'd do the trick. Does anyone have any experience w/ them, or know of anything else for me to try?

Thanks for ANY input!

my cousin had them things on his trike a while back, kept your hands real warm but it took a little getting used to riding with your hands restricted in those muffs...

Well the second ones are $99 bucks and you can get these glove liners for $79 so you may wanna give em a look. I just got my dad the jacket liner and temp controler for Christmas. Figure see how he likes it then he can get the whole damn suit if he digs it. Great company good communication and even though I ordered right before Christmas they still had it to me on time.

Here's a similar hand warmer called "Hippo Hands" which I've seen on police bikes a lot...the LE folks I've talked to say they work well for them...

I'm saving for the Gerbing liners myself...I need ALL the warmth I can get!

In addition to the two you mention, plus the hippo hands that were mentioned, you may want to consider some wind deflectors from National Cycle. You also can get this brand through JC Whitney. I have some, and they keep a lot of the air blast off the hands and make it easier to keep the hands/fingers warm (less cold?)

National Cycle says they fit XL's 96 - 03, but I put them on my '05 with just a little modification. They come in clear or smoked.

Aeorstitch has heated grip -covers. Kinda like a blood pressure checker cuff.
45.00 http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Aerostich-Warm-Wrap-Grips-p-16731.html

Aerostitch also has heated grips for 96.00

The deflectors will do a nice job cutting down on the wind without restricting your hands.

I was also told to losen my grip on the grips to keep from compressing the veins in my fingers and thereby restricting the flow of blood to them. The guy was right.

Also get some silk glove liners. 5.99 from Cabellas.
They work great wicking the sweat away from your fingers. When your fingers are wet the moisture gets cold and keeps your fingers very cold.
Same for feet. My moring ride to work is fine, but by the end of the day my feet are very sweaty and they freeze on the way home if I don't change socks. I'll be getting my silk sock liners soon. :)

Cabellas also has some leather riding gloves for about 50.00 and some "military" gauntlets for about 40.00 and the gore-tex pinnicle for 40.00. 150 grams thinsulate.

FWIW, I think for the money I've spent trying different things to keep my hands warm, I could have bought a pair of electric gloves:doh

I sure do like the windscreen model a lot better. Well, it looks better. I bet the hippo hands are a good choice, and only $60...

The heated grips look tempting too, maybe a windscreen and a heated grip... :D

Thanks allot guys! I had seen those others that you posted, but lost the links, so thanks a ton! I think I'm going to go w/ the Hippo Hands. The wind deflectors look good, but as soon as its raining they are useless. They would help, but not nearly as much as the Hippo Hands, and I could careless what I look like as long as I'm warm. I will also pick up some of the silk glove liners from Cabelas, although my gloves do a pretty good job of wicking the moisture anyhow. The heated glove liners would be nice, but then I'd have to buy a new pair of gloves as well, because my gloves would be too tight w/ those inside.
The 'loosening your grip' thing definitely works, but I don't have a problem w/ that on the Sport, just on my quad.

Wreker.... as for keeping your feet warm, try some socks that are made of CoolMax. My brother swears by them and got me several pairs for Christmas, so I'm going to try them out as well. He gets all of his from Campmor.com

just put these on my and my wifes bike. They fit and work well.
Temps in the low/mid 40's and i was wearing my summer perforated leather gloves. My hands were not cold at all. If needed those hand warms pack heaters for skiing could be added to give some heat. I got the black ones. No pics yet, but will try to get pics soon. Only thing is you must be comfirtable with operating your controls and not seeing your hands. I got mine from Pep Boys for $16. they are also available online at places.

Sweet, that would save me allot of money. How easy is it to get your hands in those while running 60-70 mph? They don't appear to have as big of an opening as the Hippo Hands do, is why I ask.

Neither my wife nor myself have had problems getting our hands in.
I just keep my fingers together and flat, get used to the angle they need to go in at , and my hands go in no problem.

Thanks for the info. I checked Pep Boys and they didn't have them and he checked all of their warehouses and said that none of them have them, so he can't order them. Hopefully this afternoon I'll get time to shop around and see where else I can find them at. I'm running system tests all morning (at least) so I can't run IE during them.:frownone

I recently purchased a pair of Hippo Hands. They do work but I've only ridden 15 miles o/w in 30* temps. This is an inexpensive solution for riders who don't have the money for heated gloves. Cold levers are still a problem with Hippo Hands because your body heat is lost when pulling in the levers. They are most efficient on the open road where you're not using the clutch frequently, otherwise in urban riding your fingers will continue to get cold without some kind of insulation on the levers. Customer service is outstanding. One of my mitts had a minor defect and when I notified them a replacement was sent immediately free of charge and they didn't even want the old one back. I highly recommend Hippo Hands. Great company.

Do you have a Sports Authority near you? I found them online here:

Thanks. Those would be great for blocking the wind, but I don't think they'd do much for the rain, and I'd like something for both. At this point I think I'm going w/ the Hippo Hands.

I ordered the Hippo Hands today and depending on customs they should be here in 3-4 days. After I get several rides in w/ them I'll try to write up a review. I also need to do one for my new chaps and Mustang seat.

The Hippo Hands are good - especially on snowmobiles......
I use those "hand warmer" packets that you can buy in most any sporting good store. They are small packets that you crush to activate. I put them inside the glove on the underside of the wrist. Try it, you'll like it!

Those are very popular in Japan. I've even seen people make them out of soda bottles.
