View Full Version : 02 Lightning Streetfighter
pancho 6th April 2008, 20:11 friend of mine let me chop his Buell and turn it into a Streetfighter, Bent up the cruiser bars, did the seatpan, oil tank, the seatpan mount, and the highway peg mounts, and powdercoated it all gloss black, gotta deliver it tommarrow and hoping he's gonna like it.

Buelligan 29th April 2008, 18:56 Looks like a real nut roaster.
bdbecker 29th April 2008, 19:09 Hell Yeah!!!!!
Kev M 29th April 2008, 19:27 gotta deliver it tommarrow and hoping he's gonna like it.
IF it were ME, I'd just be hoping he didn't KILL ME :p
:sofa
Kinda neat, not sure I dig it though, to MY mind a street figher is still a purposeful sportbike - it's a stripped down, naked, little bit ugly, wheelie and stoppie machine.
This looks more like a Buell-wanna-be-a-Choppa than a streetfighter....
Not my cup of Java I guess.
Hope he digs it though...

+1 Not to dis the craftsmanship of the work you've done, but that bike looks uninviting to ride and pretty ugly. :o Sorry
Sleeper 29th April 2008, 19:38 It looks like a f:censoring abortion to me.
I don't mean to insult anyone, it's just not my taste.
As long as owner likes it, that's what counts. :)
Blacktooth Grin 29th April 2008, 20:00 I hope the owner likes it, because I sure don't. To each his own though.
Biker Chick 30th April 2008, 02:44 Aren't most Buells (those without fairings) technically a streetfighter, already? I don't know what I'd call your creation. Different, to say the least.
myndset 30th April 2008, 03:07 Wooooooow.... He's gonna kill you man
Gojira 30th April 2008, 03:48 i like the mad max post Apocalyptic style not quite a street fighter but a pretty mean lookin machine :tour
XxTwoWheelFiendxX 3rd May 2008, 20:27 that looks retarded, congratulations, your ruined a perfectly good buell.
$.02
hillers03 3rd May 2008, 20:32 Hey it looks good to me.
DC in PHX 3rd May 2008, 21:09 I think the tank needs to go. Maybe a peanut style tank or an old metric tank like on the LSR build. I also think the instument cluster does not work.
I do like where it is headed:D

melcheld 3rd May 2008, 21:32 There are a few steps you can take to preserve you friendship in this situation.
Step 1: Drive bike to edge of cliff. (A bridge, ravine, or rock quarry will suffice if a cliff is not readily available)
Step 2: Dismount bike.
Step 3: While standing next to bike, engage clutch, place bike in 1st gear and rev engine to 6,000rpm.
Step 4: Release clutch and let go of handle bar simultaneously.
Step 5: Explain to friend that bike was stolen by bandits in the middle of the night.
I think your friend will be happy to collect the insurance money and buy a new Buell. He never has to know the truth about the horrific fate of his bike.:smoke
Cheers!
drummerboy4as 3rd May 2008, 21:49 Sorry but I'm gonna have to agree with the majority on this one. Whats gonna keep him from slipping off the seat everytime he hits the throttle?
Now don't get me wrong, it appears you do good work... it just doesn't look functional.

josephthreedogs 30th July 2008, 15:54 I wouldn't pay for something that looks like that.
bdbecker 31st July 2008, 19:20 Yep, after 3 months, I still like it. I like it even more than ever because of the response its gotten from everyone so far. Yes, its over the top. Yes, there are a few rough edges. But the fact that someone is willing to try build something that is completely out of the ordinary is what makes vehicle custimazation exciting. This bike is a perfect example - I agree, there are a few things that could have been done differently, but the concept is solid, and if a few things were changed, the response would have been completely different. As the great Dr. Hunter S. Thompson once said, "The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over."
