WilliG arrived safe in Florida today just in time to give me a much needed break from pulling the 347 stroker and 6 speed tranny from my stang.

Thanks to TXSporty's careful packing he made the trip with nary a scratch :D

So far he has checked out his new Sportster, a 2006 883XLC with the new skull goodies I received for my B-day. :clap

Back to work on Monday so he will be getting the grand tour of the space center :wonderlan :wonderlan

I will post pics as soon as I can figure out how, going to look in the forum for directions.

Its nice to know that Willie made the trip safely. He looks at home sitting on a rather nice looking scooter. Make sure he washes his hands after working on that engine. I'm sure he is full of advice, after all he is well traveled gnome

:doh Well, I got dressed and was on my way out the door to try to find WilliG when I heard some giggling coming from somewhere :toungelau After a little searching I found the source

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome007.jpg

At first I was a little perturbed with the munchkin, but when he explained that he had been cooped up in a box for several days, I guess I can let it go.

Just hope the wife doesn't find out that her little angel has fallen for the wiles of WilliG a.k.a. Studgnome:roflblack :wonderlan :roflblack :banana :banana

We were up at the crack of dawn to do the final preps to pull the motor and tranny from my trusty stang. WilliG was a little cranky about the wakeup but was a great help as I like to have someone to talk to while I'm working.

I would have gotten pics of him riding the motor out of the car but I needed both hands at the time.

Willi spent some time posing for chalk drawings with my girls, heres Gianna she is 4 years old

and heres Annalea who is 2 years old

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome015.jpg

will be spending the rest of the day degreasing and pressure washing everything off in preparation for the teardown of the motor.

Then Willi and I will transplant the engine and six speed into my 1970 Fastback.:clap :clap

Having a cookout tonight so perhaps tomorrow we will go for a ride down to Pub44 and perhaps up to Daytona to see the sights.:tour :tour

:clap With WilliG's help all the real dirty work cleaning up the motor and tranny is complete:clap
He kept telling me "you missed a spot" every 5 minutes, but he was usually right. Everything is much cleaner thanks to his eagle eyes. He can really get down low and check the areas my old ass has a hard time getting to.

Wish I had made plans for NewYears the wife and I could have taken him out somewhere. Just too much work to do here at the homestead :( :(

Our sitter, my 17 yr old daughter, is going to her boyfriends after work so I'm afraid it will be a quiet night for us. Try to put the little ones to bed and have some much needed quiet time for us.

Everyone have a safe and wonderful New Years and we'll talk to you all next year.:D :D :D :D

Looks like he's having a great time! You may want to hook him up with a pack of "raincoats" so you don't end up with a bunch of little WilliG's running around in 9 months. Judging from his antics, he's definitely not ready to be a daddy. :)

It's back to work for me,just had to open the hatch and configure the ship for processing. Introduced Willi to the boss and got the O.K. to give him a tour as time permits.:D

Heres Willi at the north gate

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome034.jpg

We had a little trouble getting in, apparently Willi bears a slight resemblance to a known terrorist gnome by the name of Asheet Madrawers. After a short interrogation we were allowed to proceed.:banana :banana :banana

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome071.jpg

Here he is at the entrance to the OPF (Orbiter Processing Facility) Highbay1

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome079.jpg

We then proceeded to the OPS Desk where all operations are coordinated.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome027.jpg

From there we went to the forward shop so I could give out the assignments to the troops for the day. This is Willi at my humble desk.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome047.jpg

Once everyone was started and on their way Willi and I took a tour of the bird, OV104 Atlantis :wonderlan :wonderlan
Here is Willi on platform 1AL

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome031.jpg

From there we went up to the windows

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome032.jpg

Here is Willi in front of the hatch just before we opened it

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome063.jpg

Here is Willi in front of the hatch just after we opened it

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome045.jpg

From here we proceeded to the aft and Willi got to see what a real shuttle engine nozzle looked like first hand.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome035.jpg

Then we checked out the stinger on the right hand OMS Pod

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome036.jpg

Here is a shot of the underside of the lefthand elevon

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome040.jpg

I then showed Willi the External Tank Disconnect with the 17 inch fuel line for the main engines. The turbopumps on these engines will empty the average swimming pool in about 2 to 3 minutes I believe, maybe less. Try flowing that much fuel through your Pingel Petcock :roflblack :roflblack :roflblack

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome042.jpg

Here is Willi perched on the left main landing gear

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome043.jpg

and here he is at the nose gear, the nose is retracted at this time for Thermal Tile work

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome030.jpg

After lunch I took Willi in the crew module which is my area of responsibility during processing for the ten penny tour :wonderlan :clap :wonderlan :clap :smoke :smoke

As it was just after lunch apparently Willi felt the need to relieve himself so our first stop was "the 6 million dollar potty"

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome054.jpg

Then due to the cold purge air in the crew module I let him warm up in the galley oven:smoke :smoke

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome056.jpg

Willi then took a peek at the airlock

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome062.jpg

We then proceeded to the flightdeck, Willi sat on the Commanders RHC(Rotational Hand Controller) the center console, and the aft flight station( the lighter colored panel below him is the Russian Docking System control panel)

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome059.jpg

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome058.jpg

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome060.jpg

In the next few days I will take him out to the pads and the mobile launcher platform. Then I suppose a trip to the Cape side will be in order so Willi can stand on the exact spot where Americans launched their first man into space. Hope you all have enjoyed WilliG's little adventure so far, and we will check back in with you all soon.:banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana

Day 2 in the OPF for WilliG. Today we were going to R&R the pyros on the side hatch. These pyros are capable of blowing the side hatch at a velocity that will allow it to clear the wing during reentry to allow the crew to bail out in a emergency. However the spacecraft has to travelling at less than Mach speeds for obvious reasons before this mode of emergency escape can be utilized.

Here is Willi helping remove the 5 o'clock pyro sorry about the quality of this shot but it is always a good thing to be a little nervous around the pyros.:wonderlan

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome052.jpg

My NASA quality assurance specialist was unsure about Willi's ability to handle a full size tool despite my assurances that there was no doubt in my mind that he knew how to handle his tool.

Christy in logistics responded by getting Willi his very own Shuttle Tool Kit

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome066.jpg

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome050.jpg

Unfortunately Willi was demoted to safety tech and stood guard at the perimeter of the safety clear:( :(

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome051.jpg

The job went well with Willi's help and we still have all our fingers and toes.:wonderlan :clap :clap :wonderlan

Willi and I then proceeded to the tranfer aisle to check out the RMS(remote manipulator arm) made for NASA by our fine friends to the north, the Canadians (This ones for you Shark Doctor)

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome085.jpg

It was time for lunch but Willi insisted on getting a shot of the 600 ft. crane on the side of the VAB (vehicle assembly building) for TXSporty.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome068.jpg

The VAB is over 500 ft. tall and boasts the most open volume inside than any other building in the world. There is so much open space inside that clouds have been known to form from condensation inside the building and you can get rained on just walking through the transfer aisle. This is where the orbiter is mated to the external tank and boosters. The two tall roll up doors were designed to allow the Saturn V moon rockets to be rolled in and out to the pad, there are two more like them on the other side.

I will try to get some pics for you all from inside this building sometime.
Lots more to show Willi so stay tuned.:D :wonderlan :D

I was thinking that it is almost Bike Week in Daytona and perhaps I might be able to snag a pic of Willie G. with WilliG. I would hate to see him go before he enjoyed the weeks festivities, but I will leave that up to Bert and everyone.

Most of the big bike shows and festivals are going to start on the east coast soon and then there are some in the midwest and then Sturgis. Perhaps he could travel in a route that will let him enjoy all the big events in the U.S. through the year ending up in California as things get colder in the east.

This would give us the best chance to get a pic of Willi with Willie.
Whatever you guys decide is fine with me just let me know.

Moker
12th January 2006, 23:58
and we have no bike shows or festivals out west this time of year?

*edit*

alright..
if you wanna keep him for another week, i guess that's cool with me.
but please don't make plans for him

cjburr
13th January 2006, 01:37
Sorry Moker, did not mean to insinuate that you don't have many wonderful places to take him in California. I just don't know when your events take place. If anyone has a good place for Willi to visit I think that would be great. I promise not to hog him. If you guys want him to move on, I'll send him wherever Bert and everyone decides he needs to go :D

I just thought that with Bikeweek so close and I'll have the time off I could take him to the sights in Daytona. Coleslaw wrestling at Cabbage Patch, Boot Hill Saloon, Main Street in full swing etc, etc.:wonderlan :banana :wonderlan

Willi is going on a trip to Jacksonville with me on the sportie to see MrJimi when he returns from vacation next week.:tour :tour

Had to work today and Willie went with me to get a chance to go to OPF 2 to visit the shuttle Endevour.

Heres Willie beside Endevour

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome092.jpg

We then took a trip up to the forward so he could see what the ship looked like with the FRCS (Forward Reaction Control System) removed for maintenance.:wonderlan

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome091.jpg

Willie likes to pose with the NASA meatball logo :D :D

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome090.jpg

We went to the aft of the ship to take in the view with the main engines removed. All these things were removed to facilitate the refurbishment of Endevour for flight. This a normal part processing for shuttles as they must be thoroughly inspected after so many flights to maintain the safety of the crews. It is a long and very difficult time for everyone involved, but when the "Power Up" light is finally lit at the OPS desk there is great joy for all involved:clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome095.jpg

This a dome heat shield that protects the main engine from the heat of reentry.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome096.jpg

Moker you will really have to watch this little guy at all times.:wonderlan
I warned him about the fact that Kennedy Space Center is located in the middle of Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge and yet he still insisted on having lunch by the canal.

It was a good thing Laura packed us Mexican because when this gator grabbed Willie it startled him so bad that he let loose with the most horrendous blast of gas and the gator dropped him and dove for the bottom. I guess it's true what they say about the intestinal fortitude of gnomes:roflblack :roflblack

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome025.jpg

I then instructed Willie on the procedures that we go through to catch a shuttle on the runway at the end of a mission. It's a shame that by the time we return to flight he will be enjoying another part of our fine country. I'm afraid this is as close as he is going to get unless I can find an astronaut who rides (there are many who do) and is willing to take him into space. It's a longshot but it never hurts to ask:doh :doh

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome099.jpg

Willi had the opportunity to attend the Rolex24 at Daytona with me this weekend. This is the first race in the GrandAm race series. Drivers from all forms of racing come to race and if you make the podium here you are qualified for the 24 Hour of LeMans. This is some of the best roadracing in the country.:smoke

As you can see WilliG came loaded for bear

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome128.jpg

Our first stop was the start finish line of Daytona International Speedway

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome146.jpg

Next stop was of course Victory Lane

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome145.jpg

We then proceeded to the garage area to see what was cooking in there. Our first stop was to see the winning car from Fridays GrandAm Motorola Cup race which we had the honor to attend.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome147.jpg

This is one of the mechanics who happens to ride an 883 with the Wiseco 1200 kit, he also has a nice panhead and was very happy to meet WilliG.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome150.jpg

We then took a walk over to the Suntrust Daytona Prototype car that was last years winner

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome139.jpg

When we found out Playboy was sponsoring a car we just had to see if any "bunnies" were about :frownone sadly, only the car and crew were there. Really nice guys though as they let Willi into their bay to watch them prepare for the start of the race.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome137.jpg

The next stop was the pit of last years Motorola Cup champion, the #5 Blackforest Racing mustang and her sister car the #2

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome132.jpg

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome131.jpg

WilliG was so wound up from hanging out with the girls that he jumped up on the stage to sing with the band :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome163.jpg

Word spread like wildfire through the infield that chicks really do dig the Gnome and soon there were imitators trying to work the Gnome mojo with the babes, but nobody works the ladies like WilliG.:smoke :smoke

Heres one Willi wannabe who stopped to pay homage to "The Gnomemaster":roflblack :roflblack :roflblack :roflblack :roflblack :roflblack

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome189.jpg

Around the corner we ran into NASCAR driver Bobby Labonte

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome166.jpg

A little futher we met one of the greatest roadrace drivers of all time
Mr. Hurley Heywood. I've watched this man race for years and it was an honor to meet him:clap :clap :clap

Since WilliG came from Germany, heres the BMW Daytona Prototype car getting ready to go out on the track.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome171.jpg

A trip to the Porsche corral was also in order. Here is a new 996 that Willi had a particular affinity for.:wonderlan

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome152.jpg

Going back through the International horseshoe Willi spotted this campsite and wanted to stay for a while, however I had to tell him that he would have to come back by himself later.:banarasta :banarasta :banarasta :doh

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome170.jpg

Going back through the garage area we spotted the Blackforest Racing Daytona Prototype powered by a Robert Yates 5.0 liter Ford Cobra motor.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome133.jpg

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome134.jpg

We spent about 2 hours on top of the garage area watching the race and as we were leaving to go back to the camp to eat we ran into this gentleman as he had finished his stint behind the wheel of the #11 car.
An avid Harley rider he was glad to pose with our Forum Mascot.

Here is Mr. Kyle Petty:banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome172.jpg

I know that Kyle has a Ride Across America every year, if any of our fellow members out west where it starts every year could take Willi on a leg of the journey it would be cool as I'm sure Kyle would remember him.:wonderlan :wonderlan

Willi posed with some of the posters at one of the many shops along the way

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome151.jpg

As night fell on the speedway I decided to take WilliG on the 150 ft. Ferris wheel for some shots of the speedway at night.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome175.jpg

This is Braedon from Valdosta, Georgia who rode with us and thought WilliG was one of the neatest people he had met at the race. (hope I spelled his name right):D :D :D

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome178.jpg

On the way back to the camp we had to stop at this campsite as they had a satellite T.V. going and it looked like a good place to rest for a bit.:cheers :laugh:cheers :laugh

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome130.jpg

Didn't quite make it to camp before we were sidetracked at midnight when we stopped to take in a show:eek:

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome177.jpg

After the show which WilliG seemed to enjoy we spotted this nice 1200C at the hairpin turn. Wish I had a XLForum card I could have left so the owner could see his bike on the forum.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome174.jpg

Around 2:30 a.m. we finally made it back to camp to relax by the fire. After 14 hours of race action, I was ready to crash but the little guy was as fresh as a Daisy, I'm not sure if even Kiltbill could keep up with him. :shhhh :shhhh :shhhh

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/gnome143.jpg

Apparently after I fell asleep Willi continued to party as I found him actually "in the bag" when I woke up Sunday morning:roflblack :roflblack :roflblack :roflblack

We made it home safe and sound after a great weekend and we will rest up for a trip to Jacksonville on the bike to see Mr. Jimi when he returns from his latest vacation. He will be coming your way soon, right after BikeWeek in Daytona. WilliG and I just scored free tickets to the big bike race at Daytona and there is a friend who is riding his Ducati 996 at Daytona who may be able to get us into the "Hot" pit area. Should be able to get pics with all the Harleys racing that day.:tour :tour

This morning WilliG and I made the trek to Orange Park, near Jacksonville to visit with Mr. Jimi, Lorraine, and Arjay:tour :tour :tour It was about 120 miles and this morning it was mighty chilly:eek:

About halfway there we were passing a tractor trailer rig and the wind caught us just right and lifted the tankbag free :spineyes :spineyes :spineyes

It was all I could do to grab the bag and stay upright:eek:  I guess the magnets aren't as good as they should be, but then again I did have it mounted so the gas cap was just under the bag allowing the air to get under it. We pulled over at the rest stop to gather our wits and to call Mr. Jimi to let him know we were halfway there.

Mapquest is a wonderful tool and took me right to Mr. Jimi's door.:welcome

It has been my pleasure to escort the little guy around. He is a magnet for fun and has allowed me to make a small contribution to this forum, for which I will be eternally grateful to him.:D

WilliG is the true embodiment of this great place, where all you have to do is ask and if it is within someones power to help, you shall receive.

When I first discovered this place I was having trouble with my computer and Mr. Jimi came out of the woodwork and took the time over many days to try and help me, a total stranger. He would check back with me to see if anything we had tried had helped. This really set the tone of the forum for me and I soon discovered that this wonderful place was filled with people just like him.

It was quite an eye opener in this world of me me me to see all these folks brought together by a passion for a motorcycle helping one another day in and day out.

When I read the thread about WilliG and saw how we were wondering what he could do next, I realized I had a golden opportunity to perhaps give some of the enjoyment I receive from the posts I read here back to you guys and gals of the forum.;)

Thank you all for the trust you bestowed in me by giving me our Gnome and your patience in waiting for WilliG to come your way.

Man is that one lucky Gnome. Can't wait to see the pics!

Willi sent me a PM last night though saying that even though he is loving all the attention in Florida that he is really getting anxious to see the rest of the world and fulfill his duties as The XL Forum ambassdor.

He said that he is kinda afraid to ask you since you have been so kind to him (especially that evening you hooked him up with that knock out blond) that he did not want to say anything.

So he asked me to ask you to send him off to California after Bike Week.

WilliG and I met flskevin today at the New Smyrna Harley dealer to get in some riding on a beautiful sunny day. Kevin has been working the races at SpeedWeek at Daytona in his capacity as a professional photographer.:wonderlan :wonderlan

A cold front followed him down from Virginia and he hasn't been able to do much riding since he got here. Thankfully on the day we planned our ride it got up to about 78 and there wasn't a cloud in the sky :sporty: :sporty:

Heres Kevin with WilliG at the dealer

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/Picture077.jpg

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/Picture078.jpg

We took U.S.1 up to Daytona to avoid the Busch race traffic and stopped along Beach St. to check out the custom bike shops.

First up was the Arlon Ness shop where we met Will behind the counter. He graciously offered to hook WilliG up with his tattoo artist but we didn't have the time:rolleyes:

We all liked these bikes by Iron Horse called the Stripper

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/Picture095.jpg

Kevin and I heard some yelling and what sounded like chairs being thrown in the next room. Apparently WilliG had gotten himself into a disagreement with some guy about Sportsters being "girls bikes"

Willi had subdued the miscreant:spank:boxing :spank:boxing :spank , taught him the error of his ways:headb , and they appeared to have settled things between them. (although there was the matter of a ruined shirt)

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/Picture097.jpg

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/Picture109.jpg

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/Picture115.jpg

Here is our bartender Jennifer, she was smokin hot:smoke :smoke :smoke

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/Picture114.jpg

Even knowing we had alot of riding to do yet, you can imagine how hard it was to leave(did I say hard:roflblack :roflblack :roflblack)

HOOTERS:banapart :banapart :banapart

Don't underestimate the magnetic chick powers of WillieG. Cj would just put WillieG on the counter or bar and the babes would come out of the woodwork.

Next time, I'm gonna dress up like WillieG and pretend to be the XLF mascot......

but then again I would just look like a creepy old dude freaking out the chicks.

Well, whoever gets Willie next will probably need to take him to the Doc to make sure he hasn't picked up any nasty bugs. I don't recall seeing him with any protection and he dissapeared with a couple of those girls for some private time.

It's a pity we missed arjay in Daytona, you would enjoy meeting him. I'm going to have to ride up to Jacksonville and check out the boat he lives on soon. WilliG and I took a ride on the Cape side today after work to see the place where we (the USA) sent our first man into space.:clap :clap

This is a place I come to when things at work get tough or when my job seems to become "just a job". It's so very quiet here, there is hardly anyone ever at this place because you need to be an employee to come here as it is inside the security perimeter of the Cape.

Sometimes I come out here and just sit, leaning up against the Mercury rocket, thinking about all the history that has happened at this place I call "work". I'm so glad that the powers that be preserved this place as it lets me recharge myself by thinking of all the hard work and sacrifice of all those who came before me and those who will be here after me.

On May 5, 1961 Alan B. Shepard U.S.N was launched into space aboard his Mercury capsule from this very spot.

Here is WilliG at the sign on the control blockhouse

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/capeside018.jpg

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/capeside017.jpg

There are lots of old experimental NASA spacecraft and rockets scattered about the place.

WilliG and I then cruised down the seashore to an old Gemini launch pad that has been abandoned in place. I sometimes come here to remind myself that all we do in this life will someday be gone, but if we do it well, new and better things will spring from the work we put forth today as you can see from the modern day launch pads you can see in the background.

Well here we go again.

Willi and I stopped to check out the waves on our way to Pad 39A

Here is Pad 39A where we launched Apollo11 to put the first man on the moon:wonderlan

We saw another crane, so we had to get a pic for TxSporty:D

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/capeside031.jpg

We then rode back to the LCC (Launch Control Center) thats the VAB (Vehicle Assembly Building) in the background where the shuttles are mated to the external tank and solid rocket boosters.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/capeside039.jpg

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/capeside038.jpg

We then proceeded to Firing Room 3 to see what the nerve center of launch day looked like.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/capeside043.jpg

As some of you may know Arjay and myself had had some small trouble with a high idle after our stage 1 mods and had been tuning our bikes using Stevo's Jetting 101. I felt that my bike was real close to being tuned correctly except for a carb fart now and then and Arjay was having some intermitten carb farts also, we both wanted to see our A/F ratios.

There was a dyno on at the party so Arjay and myself had our bikes dyno'd.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c97/cjburr/nonamesaloon003.jpg

We wandered through the bikes there and found a Sportster rider with his customized Sportie and his friend who was riding a nice Buell. We told them all about the forum and they said they would check in, their interest was really peeked when they found out that NRHS was a sponsor :smoke :smoke

This bike is so awsome I took a few pics of everything I could see. I asked the guard if I could also sit on it and was told, " who do you think you are, WilliG ??" Oh well :( :( life can sure be tough when you have to live up to the standards set by the little guy, anyway heres some detail shots :D :D

As Willi and I were going over to the tunnel entrance to see if we could get into the infield to look for Charlie, we spotted this fine looking Streetfighter and the owner was generous enough to let Willi get his picture on it :smoke :smoke :smoke

WilliG worked his charm on the tunnel guards and we were able to get in for free:banana :banana :banana :banana

Charlie said he was in a motorhome over by the lake, so we rode over there thinking we would just look for a Sportster and find him :tour :D :tour :D

Amazingly there were 7 Sportsters owned by people who were camped in this location

WilliG was unable to contact Charlie but we made some new friends and told them all about the forum :clap :clap :clap :clap

Here is one fellow who had a very clean 04 1200 custom, I'm horrible with names:doh :doh :doh , but he said he would check the forum, so perhaps he will chime in here eventually
