I run 36/40 also, but I do a lot of 2up riding.
Even when I ride alone I keep that pressure.
Never had a problem after 23000 miles.

No....didn't notice any real difference.
That said I don't go out too often and cut the twists either. Just around town and the occasional run up the interstate for a few exits.
Been out of town so much the past few months when I do get home it's like riding a new bike. :tour

on a side note,
should tyre pressure be checked when the tyre is hot or cold?
cheers

I run 36 front and 40 rear for solo and 2 up. The dealer recommended it when I got it and I haven't seen nor fealt any problems yet. Of course I alaso run my cage tires in the upper range too.

I found just a bit more bite on the road at slightly lower pressures...especially in the rear....
Just my experience..

Hey Greg, nice to see ya again. Ya been missed.
The recommended ranges are based on the type of riding, your weight and/or the combined weight of you and yer passenger. Obviously, if twisties aren't your thing, the slightly higer pressuure will give better mileage and conversly, the lower numbers will give a larger footprint in the twisties.

well, if your out riding and you stop for gas and check your tire pressure, your tires are hot or warm from riding, they should read 36/40 hot/warm or 36/40 at a cold temperature (not ridden)?????

As the air in your tire heats up, it will read higher than it does with the tire cold. So, you should check them cold. My stealer didn't say anything about the 36/40. They told me what was in the manual. I always just check em with a pressure gauge before I leave the house. If they are low, I have a electronic air pump you plug into the cig. lighter and pump em up.
