JUST GOT THE JAN HOG TAILS
lots of stuff about 88s i think they did not want to do a side by side with the 1200 sporty cuz the sporty prolly would have put out more hp.
so they compaired the 88 to the v rod engine.
the 88 barly put out about 58 hp at the wheel. a stage 1 twin cam still did not hit 60 hp.. can you see the look on their face if a stage 1 sporty pulled over 70 hp?:banana :smoke

That falls into what I was saying regarding the Sporty rider and the BT arguing HP of thier bikes at the Indy shop I was at. He claimed 80 HP on his Sporty at the RW and the BT rider called BS!!! I thought they were going to fight but it calmed down. That made me think and post is 80 HP on an 04 + 1200 with a stage 1 actually putting out 80 HP at the RW????
I have seen dyno charts HERE saying YES!!! On the other hand, HD says a stock 04 + 1200 puts out about 61 HP and 71-73 HP with a stage 1 and stock motor...In fact the HD dyno technician told me that he had seen 74 RWHP on a 05 1200C with a stage 1 and said that is absolute tops!!!
Even with what HD is telling, a stock TC88 with no stage 1 putting out 58 HP at the RW is way behind the new 1200 sporty's. Are we talking pre 06 BT's??? I heard that the new Dyna's have been ported better with bigger valves that the Sporties had done in 04 to close the gap...

PRICELESS!
OK, I have to tell the story about my bike's maiden voyage with Nitrous and the three BT riders I met at the gas station....go to my thread NOSTY1 in the carb exhaust, etc in a few minutes and I'll have the story there.
The stage 1 BT's do not make great HP, but they do have a nice torque curve for normal riding.
Anotehr quick story. Last summer I installed the Forcewinder A/C and decided to put mine back on the dyno to make sure I had done enough modification to the elbow for the float bowl to remain full.
When I rolled into the dealer, there was a softail springer on the rollers. The place has a dyno room with a glass wall so you can watch them run it. And above the wal is a computer monitor with the readout while they do it so you can see a/f ratio's hp and torque curves, rpms, etc. It's a really nice setup:)
Anyway there was this guys standing outside watching the springer run. I have to admit it sounded pretty dang awesome. The guy was watching the runa dn the monitor and seemed very pleased. Like I said earlier, the torque curve was nice, but the engine just seemed to fall on it's face above 4500 rpms. We got to chatting and I told him I was going to put my sportster on there next. So anyway, they rolled his off, and rolled mine on. He stayed and watched mine run. He never asked anything about my sportster (like 883 or 1200?). But when it hit nearly 80 rwhp on the first run and after I think he did a quick undies check, the questions started rolling off faster than I could answer. I explained to him that minus the typical stage one stuff, I only had $800 in the engine, and you could have drove a freaking bus into his open mouth. He immediately was calling BS and maintained that position. No matter what I said, he just couldn't believe that a 1200 "sporty" could make that much power. I tried to explain everything I had done, etc, but just could not convince him. We both rolled out of the dealership and joking around I snapped the throttle and popped a little wheelie. He just waved me off:)
Later on that summer, I ran into him on the main drag. Actually he ran into me:) Came riding up real quick and had a shit eating grin on his face. At the first light he asked if I wanted to do a slow roll on. I said sure. I walked away from him byfive or six bike lengths before we hit 55 mph. He rolled up at the next stop light with that WTF look on his face, we started talking bu the light changed and I waved him into a gas station. We chatted for about a half hour. He had added the SE heads and cams and just couldn't understand "a sporty beat me". I tried to be very humble about it and just explained it was a power to weight issue, etc. Anyway, we went our separate ways and I never saw him again last summer. I bet the next time he rolls up he'll have teh 103 inch kit:) (and I'll have Nitrous:)). Cool guy though and I enjoyed our chats, not the sterotypical BT rider, and was totally cool about his loss. He just wanted more.
Off to write the NOS story.

Shu, I went with the Rhein Valley Legion chapter to Vaalkensvaard Holland in 1995 and listenened to the 18 iterations of crap from all my friends and off to the Dyno we went. The best evo 1340 hit 66 h.p. and they were grinning ear to ear. When mine hit the Dyno my bike pulled a 71/71 with a makeshift ignition pickup since mine came apart(I had to file one up to get it to run because it was for a different model). I actually qualified for the the European H.p. shootout with J&P cycles. The beers were free for me the rest of the weekend. Have not been to the Dyno since but this summer I am finally going to work the 883 heads I just bought and get it tuned properly since I am going to change to a quicksilver that I got on Ebay. I am going to pull 90 this time. I can feel it in my soul.

I think you can hit 90 to 95 with your setup and a set of good worked 883 heads. Keep us posted. You've read through Nallin's post on his 2004 883 conversion bike? If not, check it out in his section.
Is winter over yet?
