Any suggestions for pipes when doing a Stage I? Should I go with the SE's or S&S slip ons? I have a little extra money for some toys for my bike, but I am limited as to what I can buy. The Vance and Hines Straightshots look cool, but I don't know how well they'll perform. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I always keep the original headers and heat shields, and get slip-ons for my bikes. Best way to keep to the original look.
There is a good review of cycle shacks in one of the forum sections. I have two sets of CSs [turn-outs and slash-cuts] but i have to wait for spring to try them out. I am going to try the slashies both with and without the baffles. I will be able to let you know my impressions in April, but i really don't expect you to wait.

I just put a pair of SE II Pro slipon mufflers on my '97 1200C. I was really happy with the fit and quality of the finish on the new mufflers. I am really happy with the sound and extra grunt I get with them as well. I agree with IronMick- I like having the original headers and heatshields too. Cant speak for Cycle Shack's personally, but I hear good things on these boards about them.

Have a pair of the SE II's myself. The quality is real good.Lot's of salt and crap on the roads where I ride and they have held up real well so far.I put them on at the 1,000 mile mark and have run them ever since(7,000 +)They also sound a little better as you put miles on them.I also liked the idea of being able to use the stock shields and headers seeing the fit is perfect and look great.Totally different bike after the upgrade, you'll be pleased.S.E has alot of other upgrades that you will be able to do in the future so you will also be lucky in the fact that your upgrades will be compatible as you do more if you choose to stick with the S.E. product line.So many choices of what you can do and what you can use it get's confusing at times. For myself,I like to try and keep the bike all H.D. parts even with the upgrades and maintenance.Luck to you! :tour
