I've been reading the reflash threads and my icm is showing a differnt # than ive seen on here. pn 32883-04
I could not find any info on the threads for this number. Do i still need a reflash? It is a 04 1200 custom. It runs very strong and no hic up issues. Just wondering in case i can have better.:smoke

I printed out the service bulletin, but am not sure where the ICM label is?
I wanted to check the numbers before taking it to the dealer for a reflash.
Thanks.

I had my ICM reflashed and it had pn 32883-04. Go to your dealership and mention the service bulletin to them or show it to them. They will hook it up to a device that will tell them if it needs to be reflashed.

I am trying to determine if my ICM part number 32883-04 on a 04 1200 Custom is the most current one. The label on the ICM reads 32478-04 so it has been flashed once when it was taken in for a service in 05 because the idle was way too high when I got it back.
I used the Speedo retrieval method to display the part number 32883-04.
I cant find the thread that was going about the different numbers and what they were for. Can anyone point me in that direction??
My closest dealer is a 200 mile round trip....
Thanks

I was having trouble with the crank position sensor and they reflashed mine with what they called the latest reflash and it now displays 32883-04b. I'm still trying to find out what it does for the bike.

How long ago did you have it reflashed? Mine was reflashed with 32883-04b in August 05 and the stock ICM p/n was 32883-04.

Mine was reflashed in July 06. I can not remember what the part number is on the ICM but it is not 32883-04.

Rider1951,what were the things that your bike was doing that led to the sensor being suspect?? Was it replaced??
I suspect mine is acting up but it shows no fault codes. That is when I started looking at the flash revision thing. My 04 has always had something going on as far as getting it to run correctly. The dealer played with the carb jetting after I insisted on a #48 slow after the stage 1 and this helped but there is still something else going on.
Thats just a feeling I have always has since the day I brought it home.
Thanks

My issue with the crank position sensor was when the oil temp got to around 200 degrees. The bike would run great when oil temp reached 200 and you came to a stop it would be hard to give it gas. When you would run on the throttle the bike wanted to die. Once you got underway it would run great until the next stop then you would go throught the whole thing again. As long as the temp was under say 190 the bike ran great. There is an old thread around it has happened to several people. Some have even mentioned that their sensor have actually melted.

I don't remember if my ignition is from my 04 1200R or my friend's 04 1200C(did some swapping trying to diagnose), but I know neither one has been reflashed and the one I have now brings up Pn 32833-04 on the speedo.
My advice would be to check the date on the service bulletin at the dealer when you bring it in for the reflash, or call ahead or whatever. Make sure it's more current than the latest one mentioned on this forum, which is Bulletin M-1162 "ICM UPDATE" and applies to all models 2004-2005 (produced prior to mid-Sept. 2004)
I have no 100% for sure info, but between about 3 different threads, I have concluded that there is a more current update than the one described in this bulletin M-1162, but the reflash probably isn't any different just the part numbering system changed.

Tried 2 different ignition modules on my bike last nite. Both from '04 1200 bikes. Both have part #32478-04 on the sticker. Both bring up Pn 32883-04 on the diagnostic check. No "A" or "B" following. I know for a fact that niether has been updated, because neither bike has ever been to the dealer.
Can anyone explain this?
