When changing cams in a conversion, I hear that it's good practice to replace lifters, so I think I'll get some. Question is, stock replacement? or something special like JIMS lifter. Going with Andrews "bolt in" cams
Also, should pushrods be changed, too? My engine has the 3-red band rods in the exhaust and 1-red band rods in the intake.
is it normal the replace them?
I was checking Chicago HD, and the 1-red band rod # 17897-86 shows "Obsoleted and replaced with aluminum adjustable pushrod kit"
but the 3-red band rod # 17904-86 is OK...

Regarding 86-90 4-speed evo's.
Can someone confirm what I read that "84-89 engines, all pushrods are the same length" ???
I know 91-03 engines have longer exhaust rods.
Looking back something I posted almost a year ago regarding my rocker boxk gasket change, My front cylinder had 2 pushrods the same length (3-bands each)
My rear cylinder supposedly had one 3- band, one 1-band. I remember that the band9s0 on one pushrod were hard to see (paint wore out). Could it bee that the 1-banded rod actually had 3-bands, and they are indeed all the same length???

should I bother going adjustable?

If your going to put in performance cams, then new lifters and adjustable push rods area definite yes.
Lifters and cam lobs need to wear together, more so with flat vs rollers, but still the roller is lapped into the old can lob, with risk wiping out a lob to save a couple bucks?

BTW Did you talk with Leo about that 1200 engine he has?
I posted that I might be interested in his thread, but he's probably looking to get more than I can afford for it. He mentioned that someone told him it's worth $1500, and that he'll probably keep it in that case. But he'll sell it if it's worth more than that...which it is...
I already decided to get lifters and rods, but don't know if I should go OE replacement lifters/rods, or better lifters like PowerGlides and adjustables.

Stock lifters are fine depending on which cams you are using. For instance I'm running CM580 cams and the stock lifters. Works fine.
You will need the adjustable pushrods though. :)
