Hi all!!!

Just making sure I have this right?

Adding a smaller rear pulley will lower your rpm's at higher speeds? In other words, at say 65mph you'll turn LESS RPM's with a 61 tooth rear pulley than you would with a 65 tooth pulley?

That's it, smaller in the rear reduces RPM at a given speed.

and even less with a 58 or the European 55. You have a 63? I thought stock was 61.

Actually I have a 68 tooth rear pulley (2004 1200 custom). I was thinking of going to a 61.

Correct me if I am wrong but you will probably need a newer belt. I have Euro gearing on my 93 and my sweet sport on the highway is 80 so be careful because these bikes vibrate more at certain rpm ranges and you don't want the highest amt. of vibration to be at the speed you normally drive.

I thought the 04 had a 29/62? I switched to a 28/62. There is a bit of vibration between 3,000 and roughly 3,150 however, I generally ride at 3,200-3,300 on the road, which is rougly 72-75 mph. At that rpm the vibration is gone.

Yes I will need a different belt. I pretty sure a belt from a '03 will work, being that the '03 has a stock 61 tooth rear pulley.

From manual:

883 (all models for any market)
28 front 68 back.
1200 (USA models)
29 front 68 back
1200 (intl models)
30 front 68 back

Considering that 1 front sprket/pulley is equivalent to near 3 back pulley, I'll prefer to don't go with more than 1 tooth plus or less on front pulley (that is less expensive too) or if it's available at reasonable price it's preferable with a 2 teeth plus or less on rear pulley.

For international 1200 that will want to obtain better acceleration to compensate exhaust, ac, cam mods that will let them loose in low-end torque there's the cheap way to find from US the front 29 USA 1200 models.
For USA guys who want to do the same, there's the option of the 883's 28 front sproket.

For better mileage and lower revs at highway speed the USA models can mount the intl 30 sprocket.
I think there's still no way for intl models to have longer gears.
