Hi Guys,

I am coming to Sweden (Stockholm) in June for a few days for business and will hopefully have about 4 days to myself to do a bit of exploring.

Firstly, with limited time, any suggestions as to what to see and do???

Secondly, anyone know a reasonably priced motorbike rental company? and is it easy/worthwhile to rent a bike or should I just use trains, etc

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers,

Brett

I spent a week riding in Norway and it was awesome. You definitely want to rent a bike. Probably my favorite adventure.

Thanks Ralph, the planning continues. Hopefully some of the locals can help me with a few ideas.

Cheers,

I would check with HOG to see if they have a special rental deal with the local dealers. They have dealers in Norway and several in Sweden as well. The sweeds love to build really long stretched out choppers. I saw some at a rally in 94 in Denmark that looked almost unrideable they were so long. Crazy stuff. Check the harley dealer in stockholm. They rent bikes.

IMO, Sweden is the Utah of Europe, the land that fun forgot:doh I found it to be a VERY uptight place (which surprised me). Get a Eurail pass and explore.

Enjoy!

DC, I spent six days on my bike in Norway and I did not see a single fine lady(def. vikings), I crossed the border into sweeden and it seemed like all the women were hot. Maybe uptight but fine none the less. That has to be worth something.

Interesting direction this thread is taking. Maybe I'll send the URL to a friend of mine, a swedish girl I met on a dive trip in Thailand. She might be interested.

I'd ask her about renting bikes but since she doesn't ride I didn't want to bother her. I figured the Swedish guys on the forum might have a few more ideas, but so far not much from them.

Ralph, thanks for the links. Looks like a good start.

Just saw on the Swedish HD site that they have the XR1200 - maybe I can hire one of them.

You can rent a harley at those stores rottenralph mentioned. None of them are located in Stockholm, though. The ones nearest Stockholm are:
Järvsö Cykel & Motor, 0651-412 43, City of Gavle
PO:s Harley-Davidson, 011-14 25 47, City of Norrkoping
I don´t know about the prices, but it´s fairly expensive.

BTW, as soon as you get out of Stockholm, swedes aren´t really that uptight, we´re just humble;):p
