I just installed my front marker lights on the triple tree. Now I can't decide if I like them up high on the trees or down low....so here is a poll, vote high or low based on these pictures.

Thanks for all the compliments on the bike. The NOS is sort of a half bred system:) Mostly Holley NOS brand and two parts Edelbrock. I have never been this excited for spring...not even when I did the 1200 conversion a couple of winters ago.

I moved the light back down to the low position as I think from the front it made the forks looked lowered even more than they are. The nice thing about the way I ran everyhting is that I can switch them from control mount to low mount to high mount in a matter of minutes. But I think they will stay low.

Stupid groundhog and him seeing his stinking shadow!

6th February 2006, 18:23
did you wire that up to your horn, with a switch to turn it from horn to nitrous? One of the systems that I was looking at way back when had that as an option.

Shu
6th February 2006, 18:34
Yes. There is a switch on the back of the side cover that activates the nitrous system. It basically turns on the electric fuel pump (wet system is a MUST for a carbureted Sportster) and then powers up the solenoids and switches the horn button from horn to hang on:) To stop the flow of nitrous, you simply release the horn button. Then reach down and turn the rocker switch on the back of that side cover off so there are no accidental NOS shots.

I like them either low. or centered between the upper and lower pinch bolts so they are ligned up with the headlight.

I have my LED set low, however, I've recently added a tool pouch below the lower section of the triple tree... now I'm getting partial blockage of the lights.

Consider that if you're thinking of adding a standard tool pouch in the near future or for longer hauls.

Dang 91 to 20 something....I should have replied earlier, I put them low a while back and like them from every angle except from the riding position. Maybe I'm just not used to them sticking out there, but they look like some little wings sticking out there when I am riding....I keep expecting the front end to get lift off if I go fast enough:)

I have not been on here much lately. Other things have been keeping my attention lately. Hopefully I'll find time to get back on here more often in the near future.

The lights are still low. I think they look decent low from most angles. I do not like being able to see them sticking out when I am riding though. To me they look like little wings out there on the front forks lol. But maybe I just have to get used to them. I will leave them low for now. If I don't get used to them sticking out like that, I am going to build my own brackets that will keep them right up against the forks ;).

I'm thinking I'm the odd one here, but I think they look better high - I don't like things sticking out from the forks.

sootysweep
18th April 2006, 21:23
In my opinion, they look better high as it makes the forks appear longer but at the end of the day, it depends what look YOU'RE after. I thought the idea of of customising was making your bike look how you want it?

Nice looking bike though - with the indicators high!

Shu,
Is that the stock mounting block on your headlight ? If so, could you give me an idea about how tall it is. I just switched my eyebrow mounted headlight to a tree mounted similar to your but I need a taller mount. Yours looks to be about just what I need but I can't bring in the pic close enough to get a good look without it getting blurry. If it is stock and tall enough I'll just order one through Harley for your bike. I've searched everywhere and can't find anything over 1.25" tall. I was thinking I may have to have a machinest make me one until I saw yours.

Your signal lights look the best in the lower position IMO.

Well, guess what.....The little chrome brackets from MidUSA (I think) broke and the left one ended up dangling next to the bike LOL. Anyway, they are once again mounted up under the mirrors. One thing about my bike is that it never stays the same long....either it removes what it doesn't like or I do LOL
