Hello,

I want to change the stock ignition on my '98 S1W Lightning.
Can anyone give me some basic info and opinions on this:
Buell Racing Ignition Module
Part No: 32680-96Y

I need to know the rev limit and any other info I can get....
Does anyone know if this is a direct plug in to the wiring harness.

And about a coil... Can anyone recommend a good coil?
I am using a set of Nology Wires, would it be a good idea to get a
Nology ProFire Coil?

Thanks

Hi, i can't help you on the 98 but I can tell you I put the race ecm, exhaust and k&n filter on my 99 and 00. It makes a big diffrence in performance, well worth it. The ecm should just plug in, mine did. IMO the bikes should of come with them stock.

The rev limit on the Buell Race Kit ignition is 6800rpm, which is also the same as the rev limit on the stock module. I know, the literature on it claims it raises the rev limit, but not on that model.

The curves are also identical, with the exception the the 6200 to 6800 range. The stock module brings in a little retard in this range and the race kit module does not. That's the only difference.

I've dyno tested both back to back. I'll put up a sheet when I get a chance, but the short answer: Save your money. The stock Buell module works quite well on a typical street hot rod Buell.
