As everyone can see from the stats on the Mini Stats box XLF is nearing 1,000,000 posts.

To celebrate this milestone I am announcing the following contest open to XLF Team Members.

The winner of this contest will receive a prize worth at least $300.00 which is yet to be determined.

All you need to do to win is pick the date that XLF hits 1,000,000 based on GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).

Rule 1. Contest is only open to XLF Team Members and you must be an XLF Team Member on the date that XLF hits 1,000,000 posts.

Rule 2. If no one picks the exact date the person(s) with the date closest (without going over) will be the winner(s). For example, if the date XLF hits 1,000,000 posts is on 15 May 2008 and no one picked that date then the person(s) whoever picked 14 May or earlier would win. If someone picked 16 May 2008 or later then they would not win.

Rule 3. If multiple people pick the same winning date I will have a raffle to choose the winner..

Rule 4. You must email your contest submission by xlforumadmin@gmail.com by 15 June. Hint: I do not think we will hit the 1,000,000 post mark by this date.

Rule 5. Only one email submission per XLF Team Member will be accepted.

Rule 6. You must put your XLF user name in the email.

Rule 7. Subject of the submitted email must indicate "XLF 1,000,000 Post Contest"

Any questions???

Why not add a time also? That way if multiple people pick the same day, the person with the closest time wins.

I think it would be too difficult to determine what time the post count goes over 1,000,000.

From the title of the thread I thought you were gonna have a contest for the first person to have over a million posts!

The whole problem with this contest, is that the post counts keep going backwards. Last week on 6/30/08 the count was at 961,790 now today on 7/7/08 it is 958,773. So posts are getting deleted each week. The only reason I noticed this is 2 Fridays ago, 6/27/08 the count was something like 972,000 and than I noticed it was at the 961 number on Monday so I wrote it down, because I thought I was seeing things. We probably hit the million post amount a long time ago, but we never knew because posts were getting deleted. Maybe Bert can check this.

Best Regards,
Norm

Just checked and it's now 958,790

five minutes later its 958,810 so its going in the right direction now, so can we send in our guess even though the original date for submission has gone?

It will go forward for the week, but if what I have been seeing the last 2 weeks is the same, check next Monday and see what the count is. It seems that each week a certain amount of posts are deleted. I don't know if this is the server that does this or something else.

Norm

Oops!!!! I made a mistake.

Rule 2 says, " If no one picks the exact date the person(s) with the date closest (without going over) will be the winner(s). For example, if the date XLF hits 1,000,000 posts is on 15 May 2008 and no one picked that date then the person(s) whoever picked 14 May or earlier would win. If someone picked 16 May 2008 or later then they would not win."

The actual winner is Brad Weir (883xl) who chose the date of 1 Aug 2008. Sorry for the mix up!

Cool! The supporting vendors here are all great. I've had a lot of success with them and their products, but I've never tried anything from Speedway Instruments.

I've wanted a microTach+ for some time now. Guess it's time to add another supporting vendor to my list!

Thanks for running this contest Bert, and thanks to the supporting vendors!~

No not really. In the database the posts are numbered and I could find post 1,00,000 but it would not be the one that put us at that number since I am constantly pruning the OFF-TOPIC areas.
