My wife is awaiting the delivery of her 06 1200L. The dealer is installing SE Air Cleaner, CS Slipons and rejetting carb.

Being up here in Buffalo with Ice and Snow on the ground, will they be able to properly adjust the carb without actually riding the bike, or do I need to spend the money on some dyno time to tune it properly?

Well, THERE'S a can o' worms..... :laugh

If you can afford the dyno time, sure...that's the way to go....

BUT, you can easily DIY when our weather breaks enough to ride...

Without riding after making jetting/mixture changes, yer just pi:censorin' in the dark....

I'm in Warsaw, if ya need any help, just Holler...I go into the city pretty often...

:clap

hey Chucky-that's a pretty nice offer-can you come do mine too???

wehohl-
Cantolina really knows his stuff when it comes to carbs.
You can adjust it just sitting there-but ridin will let you know what it really wants. When the weather warms you more than likely need to readjust it.

Thanks Cantolina for the offer. It would be great to meet up. Maybe the wife an I could cruise down in your direction. I would sure like to buy you a beer. We are planning on taking a trip to Letchwork sometime this summer.

The wife and I do Letchworth on the Sporty every year....usually during the Arts and Crafts Fair....

I ride as early as the weather will allow...on any given day....

I also own rental property in Kaisertown, Near West Seneca....

Honestly...for a "street rider"...with little or no mods, you can do it yourself in less than a few hours, at worst....but ya have to ride it so you see what every step does to your tuning....

OK, I'm going to step out on the edge of a cliff and just see if anyone wants to push me off:) If your dealer has a dyno and has been jetting these Rubber Mounts on the dyno since 2004, then I would say they can get the carb pretty dang close if not spot on without firing the bike up. I know all carbs are slightly different, yada yada yada, but when you are doing a couple a day or week or whatever, you kinda start to figure out what works best.

I would have to agree with you, maybe just a little difference on the a/f screw. BTW man you got a super clean engine, looks good.

Thanks, BUT it's winter so she is all cleaned up. AND it isn't that clean. I have a couple of stains on the powdercoated silver cases that just will not come out. On right side, it is from gas that spilled on it when jacking with the jets. On the left side, I went to the car wash once and used their SUPER SOAP and it dulled my black horn and caused it to drip on the case and I can not get it out.

I hear ya, my dealer sprayed wax on my tank when the engine was still hot and the drips stained the side cases.

They did take responsibility and replaced both sides with the parts from a showroom bike. NEVER let anything get on the silver powder coat when the engine is hot, it doesn't come off!

Great question! I used to live in Buffalo and currently live south of Syracuse. I also just had the dealer rejet my Sporty 1200C and it was delivered back to me without riding it. If you all are going to meet up to fine tune it, can I meet up with you too? I have no idea what to do. :tour
