View Full Version : Chromed/Polished rotors?

Now that I have my new chrome front end installed, the old stock rotor just aint cutting it. I've seen so many styles and prices (aftermarket from $40 to HD at $140). Some look like one piece and some look bolted together.

The ones that look bolted together are called 'full floating' rotors, & are meant to reduce overall temperature in the rotor, increasing brake performance. (My personal favourite too) Will look GREAT with your chrome front-end...

Yea, but they look like crap next to the one-piece ones. How much performance do you loose for basically a touring application?
Also, is there any difference in the patterns, or is that just for looks.

Chrome ones look great till the pads start eating away the chrome.
Then you have a nice scuff mark in your highly chromed out rotor.
Look at a high dollar show bike with chrome rotors they look like nobody
has ever ridden them. Even the pipes dont have any carbon in them :yikes

I know I'll have tracks from the pads, it's the rest of the rotor that I'm concerned about.
