Looking for pics of the four Memphis Shades Sportshields on a peanut-tank Sportster. I've been browsing the galleries but it's a lot to sift through to find a particular shield style. If you have the Memphis Shades Rio Grande, Del Rio, El Paso, or Del Rey, could I get a link to a pic or whatever? I'd like to see how it looks on your bike and get your opinion on its coverage. Also, are these quick release and how do they fit with the headlight brow? Thanks in advance.

This is the 17" El Paso, in the solar color.
I love it, and it is quick detach. It leaves a couple of small clamps on the forks. Somewhere I did a review write up on it..I'll look for that but in the mean time, here are pics of the shield and the clamps in question. Fits fine with the brow and I also have a tach and the speedo mounted on top of the brow, and no probs with that either.

Xena, thanks for the pics and info. Three questions:
Is it necessary to relocate the signals or can they stay on the bars?
Is your shield sitting slightly in front of your headlamp? It looks from the pic that the top of the lamp's beam might be cut off by the shield.
Is this shield adjustable for leaning it back or straight up?

I looked for that review you mentioned, but I can't seem to find it.

Kajun -

I have the same model shield as Xena, but the 19" version (I'm 6' with a 31" inseam). My signals are on the handlebars - I can shoot a pic if you really care to see it. The shield doesn't block the headlight at all, and it's fairly adjustable angle-wise - probably about 15-20 degrees worth.

No pic necessary, since you answered my questions perfectly. Thank you very much! I'm thinking the El Paso shield is what I'm going to go with... most likely the 15".

Kajun I don't know of a 15" version in the El Paso model. I have only seen 17" or 19" in that model.
Here's (http://www.phatperformanceparts.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MEM-ELPASO) a link to where I bought mine.

Xena, you caught me in a brainfart moment. I actually meant to say 17". Thanks for the link.

Nothing like digging up a old post, but after much research I ordered a Memphis shades solar shield from the link provided by XENA above and they have free shipping :clap. I got the rio grande for a little more coverage than the others but its was still the same price, so $164.90 for sheild and QD mounting hardware and it shipped the next day, its projected to be here next wednesday :banana . Thanks for all the great pics and info.

It was Xena's post and review that sold me on the El Paso, 19 inch clear with black gradient.
The result was many more comfortable riding days during the past winter :banana

Phatperformanceparts.com (http://www.phatperformanceparts.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MEM-ELPASO) were excellent to deal with. I received it in about five business days, great quality and easy install/removal. Can't beat it for the price!

I'm sure you'll love the Rio as well.

Be careful with the height you choose. I put the 17" El Paso om my sporty and everything was great with the windshield and mounts except that it dam near blew me off the seat, much worse than without one. Luckily the company took it back and sent me the 19"........ Hallelujia, score one for the consumer, 'ole El Paso has never been off since. I'm 5'10", 11" shocks, foward controls if that helps. The windshield takes about twenty miniutes to initially install and one minute to take off and put back on. The space between the speedo and the shield is perfect for storing your ball cap when you have the lid on too!:banana

Good point Wagondog. Anyone who read my review
should have noted that I am 5'3" and the shield comes
inline with the bridge of my nose. I'd guess that
anyone over approx. 5'8" might need the 19" one.

Kajun has probably long since bought something.
He posted this thread in February..someone else recently
brought it back to life!

That is probably correct. I am 5'9" and bought the 17" and my brain rattles in my brain no matter how I adjust the shield.

I think I will have to get some lowers in order to get rid of that problem.

I'll second that. I'm about 5' 7", bought a 17" and it works pretty well with fork brackets as high on the forks as they will go. I get a small amount of buffeting, but nothing I can't live with. I am considering changing it out for a 19" as I could then mount it about 2" lower on forks. This would close up 2" gap I have above headlight and keep top of windshield about the same as the 17". This is assuming the mounting holes on the 19" shield are in the same relation to the mounting holes on the 17".

The mounting holes in the 19" are the same as in the 17", that question came up in my conversation with the rep.

What looks cool with the memphis shades line of sports sheilds is the mounting hardware looks to be the same as the hardware for my memphis fats which is the same for the memphis slims too. So you can just buy the sheild only and change around for any use.

When I was ordering the El Paso I was thought the 'gradient" color at the bottom of the shield would look "a little cheap". The rep I spoke to had a black Sporty as well. He convinced me it dresses the bike nice. You don't even see the windshield below the handlebars with the black bottom, so if you have a black bike look at the gradient black model they sell,

This is the 17" El Paso, in the solar color.

Just installed a 19" el paso. How did you route the clutch cable? Have pictures of that side of bike?
