I took all the rear suspension off, oil tank and other littles bells and wistles. Im trying to get the swingarm off so I can put on my new hardtail. There is a bolt on the right side that goes all the way through the swing arm and its the pivot point. I started cranking it out and it came out about an 3/4 inch. Now its not really going anymore. I think I just have the pull the rest of the bolt out am I right or wrong, cause it in there pretty tight.

How did you end up getting the bolt out? I've got a '78. Same story. Bolt part ways out and no more movement.
thanks,
John.

Most mechanics would use a "bolt puller" but I didnt have one. I ended up spraying all the joints with PB blast (IM not really sure if that did anything, but anyways), I then Had my dad keep cranking on the bolt with the rachet while I use 2 screw drivers to help pry it out. Like putting the two flat tips together to make a wedge and then would pry them apart while he turned the bolt. It was slow but eventually began to come out. Once it was like 3 inchs out, I use a flathead screwdriver, ran it through the frame and used a rubber mallet to wack the bolt while he continued to turn. The key I found was to keep the bolt spinning, and adding pressure to pull and it out. Once the bolt was out I thought there might be somthing else holding it on, but theres not. Just take a rubber mallet and keep wacking the swingarm back, making sure to alternate sides or else it wont come off. U doing a weld-on tail too?
