View Full Version : coil mount question dmh 13th February 2006, 23:39 hi people.has anyone mounted their coil between the cylinders on the top motor mount /headsteady and how did you do it thankyou. Badwrench 14th February 2006, 00:44 I've been thinking of doing the same thing. Yankee Engineuity (sp) makes a billet top motor mount with holes for the coil mount, ignition switch and choke knob. Kind of spendy at $180 or so. I'm thinking of making up a bracket to mount my coil and relocate the ignition switch elsewhere. A side-note I was warned by a mechanic (not a bike mechanic) not to mount the coil next to the engine 'cause it would be too hot and burn out the coil. I figure it's closer to the engine under the tank, and would be in the cooling 70 MPH breeze on the left side. Don't big twins have the coil on the left side of the engine? dmh 14th February 2006, 00:51 yeah im sure big twins do have coil mounts between the cylinders, seems like there are plenty of mounts for bts but not for sportys |
