What kit should I buy for the 1200 conversion, I am just going to get my jugs bored and use the heads on the bike. New at this game but learning. Need best price. Do not want to put junk on my baby. I have a 2005 883L

Might get more responses posting this in the "Conversions" forum.
There are many threads in that forum that discuss just the same questions you are asking.

The best option for me was to buy 1200 cylinders, and get the SE 883/1200 pistons. If you're going to bore the cylinders, Wiseco makes a conversion piston with a bit lower compression ratio you could consider as well.

If you're going to bore (as I did), SE has a piston kit that will get you 10:1 with your stock heads...
That's the way I went....

As did I . Went with boring original cylinders and had 1200 valves installed.

skeeter your not really giving enough info for anyone to give specifics. what exactly is th end result you are looking for and how much are you wanting to spend. you can do from $600-$700 to skys the limit. Just make sure that whoever bores your jugs knows what they are doing. I wouldn't want to be anybody's first HD job.

Take stock in what Flamin883 said about not letting someone bore your cylinders who has not bored HD's before...meaning make sure they use torque plates and that they realize they are going to be taking a half inch of material out of the 883 cylinders. I'm not sure where you are located, but if you give us that information, someone may be able to direct you to a knowledgable machine shop.
If you are going to do the labor yourself, and it really is a simple job, you can get away with bored 883 cylinders or new 1200 cylinders from HD and a set of either 9.5:1 compression Wiseco reverse dome pistons or a set of 10:1 compression HD Screamin' Eagle reverse dome pistons (since you are running the stock 883 heads). If you plan on keeping the stock cam, then I'd suggest the 9.5:1 Wiseco's (Just my opinion though). Anyway, you could do the simple 1200 pistons/cyl kit for around $500. And another piston option would be Keith Black pistons. Only use the KB's if you are going to be boring your 883's since they require a closer fit. The part number for the Wiseco's 9.5:1's is K-1655, Wiseco's 10:1's is K1682, SE 10:1's is 22698-01 all of those are standard bore pistons. IF you are boring your cylinders, wait to have them bored when you have the pistons in hand so they can fit the pistons to the cylinders. If you are going with SE 1200 cylinders, then I have had perfect success with the SE 10:1 compression pistons fitting perfectly.
Hope that helps
