Finally getting around to installing my Kuryakyn Silver Bullets. I wired the fused wiring harness to the battery. I have the switch powered. I need to ground two wire at the front of the bike. I planned to use the front tank bolt, but the frame is painted, so that will not ground it, correct?
Any suggestions? Thanks!

I'm not sure you should use that regardless...
You should have a ground wire somewhere nearby...like near the headlight, or on the harness UNDER the tank??

If I recall correctly there should be a factory grounding point right on the tripple trees somewhere...or am I loosing my mind?

Not on MY bike, that I can see..
I remember a discussion about the concerns regarding grounding there...something about affecting the bearings?!?!?
I believe that the entire front end is grounded thru the harness....
(maybe you're thinking about the brake line mount?)

Ugh.....here is the set-up I currently have....
1) Fused Kuryakyn Wiring Harness with the hot wire going to the Positive battery terminal
2) 3 ground wires to the negative battery terminal (one from the relay and two that lead to the front of the wiring harness)
3) for testing purposes - the switch power is wired to the positive battery terminal.
4) wired the 2 Kuryakyn Silver Bullets to the 2 hot wires after the switch
5) need to find a ground for the 2 wires after the switch - I cannot get them to light.
2 questions - is there a grounding point I can use to simply test them and see them light? Also, what is the best option for a permanent ground? I'm such an electrical n00b! :frownthre

Never a good idea to ground something that draws high current through the tripple tree. It will arc the bearing and pit them. There is a bolt mounting point on the 05 just below the neck (but on the main frame) that is used for the top mounting if the crash bars. I would clean that area up and use internal tooth lock washers on the bolt. After the install, I would connect a volt meter across the connection, turn the lights on and check that you have a zero voltage drop.

You can use any part of the engine case just to test lights....
Again, for permanent ground, find a ground in the harness, or use the ground point in the headlight, which, eventually, makes its way thru the harness.....

i suppose the closest location would probably be the coil mount no?

Got it working.....I was being a RETARD! I didn't have the light housing touching the metal on the bike! :doh :doh :doh :doh
