Installed my Forcewinder today and rejetted the carb, along with the V&H Shortshot Staggereds this completes my stage 1.:clap :clap :clap

Everything was straight forward and really easy to perform. These Sportsters are a breeze to work on, I am very pleased.:D :D :D :D

My rejet consisted of a 45 slow jet and a 185 main. I would recommend that to do this you get some short screwdrivers. I went to Sears and picked up a couple that fit the jets and ground one down to fit up in the carb for the slow jet.

I didn't adjust the mixture screw as the bike seems to be running fine with the factory setting. I will put some miles on it and read my plugs to see if it is running as good as it feels.

The bike is running good, roll ons are crisp and I have had no carb farts during slow riding. I only have about 5 miles so far as I came back to check for any leaks, and everything looks dry as a bone.:banana :banana

Here are some pics of the install

The only thing I really don't care for is the way the breathers for the heads are set up:frownthre :frownthre It just isn't the clean set up I was lookning for, I may use the billet breather set up I saw on ebay as the local indy has some coming in soon for the same price.

Time to get some miles on it:tour :tour :tour :tour :tour :tour

Will post any troubles I have if they crop up.

I just installed my Shorty Staggereds last night. I spent about 3 hours, including one trip to Home Depot for some larger Allen keys, out there. They came out great. Although, the spacing between the edges of the heat shields and the muffler body is wider at the bottom than at the top. Looking at the pictures you just posted yours look about the same. Maybe 1/4" on top and 3/8" on bottom. I order a Trak Tek Ram-Flo yesterday and will replace the SE A/C POS next week. I also have to get the ICM reflash done and this being the week before Bike Week, none of the local dealers can get me in until Friday. Once I get all of that done, I am going to an Indy for some accurate tuning and Dyno-ing. Hopefully after that it should run well. This winter I think I will be doing the NRHS 1212 conversion. Talk about paying the taxes...

Back from my ride:tour, around 60 miles, bike pulls real strong from any RPM:gun. No carb farts except if I try to take off without a warm up:doh After warm up no problems whatsoever.:clap :clap :clap

I am real pleased with the performance that these pipes and AC have given my bike.:D :D :D

A little too late to pull the plugs and look at them right now, think I'll get the leather out and continue to ride around tonight. :tour :tour :tour

Question: How many miles should I put on it before I read the plugs again?? The bike does not seem to be running so rich as to foul the plugs and I have a spare set in my pocket, gapped and ready to go, with a socket & ratchet that I will keep with me just in case. Anybody have any suggested miles till the next plug reading??:dunno :dunno

It really is the best mod you can do to a new sportster!
