Nice ride! I like the rear fender a LOT! how did you go about giving it a wire mesh affect? Also, what clip ons are you using?

please excuse my english
:D
fender:
i cut off everything under the original struts and i saw a hole over the struts. than i took some stretched iron plates as used in kitchen ventilation systems and glued it in the fender using the glue for car windscreens
clip ons:
made by fehling, ready for hd with one inch and with the "holes" for the cable. i bought them at w&w cycles

Hello, Fleiszpelz! Welcome to the forum! Glad you found us! And very nice bikes, too! Keep the pictures coming! I lived in Germany for seven years (two different times)...Frankfurt and Pirmasens...what nice riding country you have!

An American, a German and a Japanese guy are golfing one day and, at the
third hole, they hear a phone ring. The American excuses himself, puts
his left thumb to his ear and his left pinky finger to his mouth and
proceeds to have a phone conversation. When he is done, he looks at the
other two and says, "Oh, that's the latest American technology in cell
phones. I have a chip in my thumb and one in my pinky and the antenna is
in my hat. Great stuff, huh?" They continue golfing until the ninth
hole when, again, they hear a phone ring. The German tilts his head to
one side and proceeds to have a conversation with someone in German.
When he finishes, he explains to the other two that he has the latest in
German cell phone technology. "A chip in my tooth, a chip in my ear and
the antenna has been inserted into my spine...Ah, the wonders of German
know-how!" At the thirteenth hole, a phone rings again and upon hearing
it, the Japanese guy disappears into some nearby bushes. The German and
the American look at each other and then walk over and peer into the
bushes. In the middle of the bushes is the Japanese guy, squatting with
his pants down around his ankles. "What on earth are you doing?!" asks
the American. The Japanese guy looks up and replies, "Waiting for a
fax."

WOA!!! :yikes VERY nice WL. Wait till Flathead sees that one. BTW, that looks like an Aschaffenburg plate on it. Is it? I used to live there.

fleiszpelz

yes, i live in aschaffenburg schweinheim, near the former army barracks. when have you been here?

Holy Crap!! I used to live in Schweinheim. Right next to what used to be Ready Kaserne. On Steubenstrasse. I still have friends there. I lived there back in the late 1960's. Went to High School in Frankfurt. Went back a couple of years ago. Most of the Gasthausen I used to go to had long been closed. It was good to see Aburg and old friends though. Brought back a shitboat load of pictures too :laugh
I have a buddy in Schweinhiem that likes bikes. We did a lot of craziness back in the halcyon days of my spirited youth :laugh I really miss the Schlapeseppel though. :cry1

I live in Unterhainstrasse, that's not far from Steubenstrasse. In the opposite of Schlappeseppel we are used to play Petanque in Summer... Who's your buddy in Schweinheim? If he rides I probably know him...
When will you come again to visit A'burg Desertfox?

I don't really know. I have an old girlfriend there that stays on my case about comming back. HOG (Harley Owners Group) has a fly and ride program that has links to rescources to air freight your bike where ever you want to send it. Thinking about maybe air freighting my Sporty over there and touring the Bavarian Alps. Or might just rent a Big Twin over there. Wichever is cheapest. My buddy in A-burg Andreas Sistenicht, he's kind of the Godfather of Schweinheim :laugh lives on Steubenstrasse. We used to play together in a band years ago. He is still pretty much into the music scene in A-burg. He used to have a Sporty, don't know if he still does or not.

I have not seen Andreas for years... In the 90es I met him at Sam's place, when he opened...
Maybe the cheapest solution is to buy a Sporty here and sell it again when you leave. That's what I allways did, when I went overseas...
Maybe you could even bring any Harley over here from the states, ride around with it and sell it in the end. Prices are still cheap in America, comparing to Germany...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Not a bad Idea. maybe the profit margin would be enough to cover the entire cost of the trip. I will definately look into it.

I think that could very easy be able.
if you bring a bike by yourself, then the new owner has to pay 16% vat to the german taxes, and this is all. to get tuv he must change the speedometer scala to km/h and maybe change the headlight, if it is a sealed beam one. here (http://www.probike.de/bikes/index.php) you find some typical german offers, and the prices.
Actual 1 EURO is about 1,20 Dollars
Will you get 15 thousand bucks for a 1987 fxst in america?
In Germany the elder EVO's are the most popular HD's because it's easier to customise them in a legal way. From 1994 on it is hardly possible to mount an interesting exhaust system, because of the newer laws.
Is this the same in America?
