I have a pair of Smith 8-base wrap around sunglasses that my local eye doc sent to his lab and had Transition lens put in.
I also have a pair of no name (cheap) non wrap around eye glasses with dark lens in them.
The Pantopx brand from sportrx.com get good reviews from those who have them. The ones with the foam seal are said to work well.
I'm going to get my local guy to put a set of Transition lens in a pair of goggles as soon as I go for my next eye exam.

I got my Panoptx Sirocco (Rx) glasses at Sportrx.com - first rate service. Excellent work making curved lenses - Most places make flat lenses and use adapters.

I just went out and did the contacts scene, now I just pick out a pair of shades I like and not worry about perscriptions. No problems with them tearing or comfort if anything I can see better, clearer and colors are more vivid.

I blew $250 on a pair of Panoptx Diablo convertibles (have a foam piece that can be removed). I wear prescription glasses for riding/driving so I got the rx Transitions day/night lenses. I like the style and quality of Panoptx frames, it's the lenses that I don't like. The optical part is fine but what they fail to tell you (and I obviously didn't do enough research on my own) is that the Transitions lenses only darken when in direct sunlight. I don't mean a sunny day, I mean direct sunlight. If you can't see the sun they will not darken! The biggest pisser of all is that they do not work at all behind my truck/car wind shields. The lenses work using UV rays from the sun to darken and todays windshields block out almost all of the UV rays. *I don't know how they work behind a bike windshield as I don't use one. So now I use my prescription wrap around sunglasses (Bolle Spirals) that do a great job of keeping dirt ect out of my eyes during the day, and my Panoptx only at night. I needed night rx riding glasses anyway but I could have gotten them a lot cheaper!

I've got some regular ol' RayBans I've had for years. Even killed a bird with 'em when it hit my face at 60mph and they didn't break, good stuff. :)

I have some Wiley X transitions and they don’t transition. They might have worked for a week. They’re clear all the time……
I don’t have much choice other than Wiley X glasses for riding prescription glasses though. My insurance network only included a Wiley X dealer. At least this pair will only cost me $50 instead of $140 for sunglasses that don’t work……
They are great for blocking out the wind…..

I’m in the middle of trying to order some prescription Wiley X glasses right now and thought I might share my experience.
I’m trying to get them through someplace that accepts my insurance. The first dealer I went to was a nightmare. Their first response was that they had a few people complain about their glasses with their prescription because of the curve of the lenses causing distortion. They recommended that I didn’t try them. I have to have corrective lenses as required by my license. So, I asked that we try it anyway. The girl comes back to me saying that they can’t figure out their order sheet and I would have to wait until their Wiley X rep comes through. Oh, and he only comes through every FOUR MONTHS. I was like, you’ve got to be kidding me…. you can’t get somebody on the phone?
I found another dealer luckily and they couldn’t be more helpful. The thing is – they’ve never actually sold a pair of Wiley X glasses. The lady is trying to find out for me if they can even order a single frame for me or if they would be required to order half a dozen. In which case – they wouldn’t do it and I wouldn’t be able to use my insurance to purchase the frames.
I wasn’t aware of this, but apparently, eye glasses lenses are all ground out from the same blank to fit your prescription and frames. This was news to me. I always thought that frames came with specific lenses that were ground to your prescription. The good news here is that I guess any lab can make lenses for any frames.
So, if I can get the frames from this local dealer and I get the polycarbonate and the name brand transition lenses it will cost me about $160 for the complete new glasses – with my insurance! Not cheap, but not too terribly bad for prescription transition lenses in a new Wiley X frame.
My other option is that I already have a pair of Top Jimmy Wiley X glasses with the poor transition lenses that don’t work. I can use those frames and have lenses put into them. I hate to send them off to my insurance lab to have them done and be without my Wiley X glasses for several weeks. There is a rally coming up in a couple weeks that I will need them for.
So, I can pay cash and she says she’ll give me a 20% discount. The polycarbonate name brand transition lenses will cost me about $195 from a local lab and I would get them back the same day.
I definitely prefer to use my insurance, but I may not have a choice.

Dude, it took over a month to get my prescription Wiley X glasses. Cost me $160. I’m fairly pleased with them though. I did order the name brand Transition lenses. They only get dark in direct sunlight which kinda sucks when driving the car, but they do work while on the bike and that’s what they are mainly for anyway.
On a side note – I called Wiley X about the warranty on my original pair of nonprescription Wiley X transition lens glasses. I figured I’d just call it a loss and see if they wouldn’t send me a pair of smoked lens shades in place of the transitions that don’t work. Girl said they would ship me a pair. No need to send the defective glasses back. Not too bad of a deal overall. Even though it cost me an extra $50 for those shitty transition lenses – the frames cost $70 if you order them by themselves. So, I’m pretty pleased. I’ll have an extra set of frames for more prescription lenses if something happens to my new pair.

Update….they sent me a pair of smoked lenses – not the whole glasses. They basically got away with charging me an extra $50 for lenses that were defective. Whatever though – hopefully these posts will warn others about what junk those Wiley X transition lenses are. I really doubt I had much recourse….. I surely didn’t want another set of their lame transition lenses.
I’m very pleased with my new prescription brand name Transition lenses. Went on a big trip to the mountains last weekend and they performed very well in the sun. Hopefully they will hold up for more than a few weeks. LOL
