I'm not sure where things are on an XLC (ya gotta love Bert's header changes), is it in the handle bar riser with the control connectors? Could be under the tank too.

Hope some other XLC folks wander along...

It goes under the tank to the seat area.

Headlight connector is located just behind the front of the tank. Took off front bolt on tank, remove speedo for clearance, had to remove coil/ ignition bracket; (wires go through this), headlight bolt hits right fork, had to turn the headlight mounting stem. Got fog lights wired to the yellow (low beam) wire. Success! Got the old bucket off.
After hooking everything up with the new Assy. Soldered fog light wire(red) to the low beam(yellow), I have headlight, but no fog lights. I can hear the click of the breaker under the seat for the fog lights...
Lil help???

What wattage bulbs are in the fog lights?
Could they be drawing too much current?
I seem to remember some therads were people were saying that you have to use pretty low wattage bulbs in the fog lights. I think those discussions were based on system current draw being too high for the alternator though not necessarily causing a breaker to blow.

If its tripping the breaker you have a short somewhere. either one of your connections are grounding out against the frame or you connected a power to a ground

it cant be tripping the breaker or you would not be having any lights, did you pinch any wires? forget to connect any grounds?

Maybe it's the relay?... I definately can hear the click.

Do the fog light have thier own relay? and are turned on by thier own switch?

do they have a fuse of their own on the relay circuit? and did you check it? other than that its just wires an bulbs

Lights have own fuse, and relay. Checked 'em both. Will look into it again tomorrow.

Thanks!!!
P.S. I'll check into my soldering job. It may or maynot be up to snuff...

I hate electronics!!! Re-opened the headlight bucket, un-soldered the wire, turned on the ignition, Headlight works. Touched the fog light wire to the low-beam wire (again) and it works! So i'm back in business!! Going for a ride tonight. Will jet the carb tomorrow after work. Thank you all for the help!!
