Riley still has the fastest one way pass on a non-streamlined Sportster. 206+ in 1973?

That sounds right for a Sportster. Now the record for a non-streamliner is Suzuki at 226.800 in M-BF. I think one of Don's records is still amazing -
a 250 cc Yamaha, 202.445 mph, way back in '73.

They need to update their website. The easy rider bike no longers holds the record. Chris Carr in the Bubs streamliner now holds it.

Dan, I was not talking streamliners, just stating the record for an open bike, with no fairing, class M-BF. The current record is 226.800 set in August '07. Not bad for no fairing.

Pushrod motors do not run in the M-BF class. There designation for the class would be M-PBF.

There is no M-PBF record for 1000cc at Bonneville, for 1350 M-PBF the record is held by Team Elves at 155.475 mph and at 1650cc there is no record in the M-PBF class. Build a bike and make a pass and the record is yours!

The fastest HD record that I see in the book for a conviential HD ( non-streamliner) is John Minono's bike @ 225.819 mph.

Minonno is one hell of a good racer. He works at D&D exhaust. His bike is very impressive. 100ci, alcohol powered with electronic injection, and a turbo. North of 300hp. Very, very well built machine, no expense spared. He's been doing this a long time and he's damn good.

Yeah, I believe he raced for Ed Mabry for many years. I also believe he has been over 250 on one of Ed's bikes.

I didn't say pushrod motors run in M-BF class. All I was stating was 226 ain't bad for a bike with no fairing, any bike. Minonno's bike had a fairing (APS-PBF).

After this statement and the previous statements regarding Sportster I wasn't sure why you brought up a non-pushrod class.

And you are right 226 is pretty good for no fairing, I think that was Jason McVicar who set that record at Bonneville. On that same note John Noonan went 229 mph last year at El Mirage on a 1.3 mile course dirt course.

I was just talking fast bikes in general. You brought up pushrod motors in post #7. Heck, the 250cc bike I mentioned didn't even have valves but it was still fast at 202 MPH for a 250. The 265 MPH Sportster was fast in it's day, 226 MPH is fast for no fairing, 202 MPH is fast for a 250cc bike, etc. I guess I was just singling out some outstanding bikes. No harm, no foul.

Oh there is definately a 12 step program but it goes in the opposite direction. 12 steps to becoming a member in the 201 club that is!! Notice I said 201 not 200. NRHS is the official sponsor of the Bubs at Boneville 201 mph club!! Why 201 you ask? BECAUSE WE ARE FASTER!!!!

Got some really nice hats ready to give away to anybody who sets a record of 201 mph or more.

I've never been able to understand why a Streamliner is classified as a motorcycle.

To my way of thinking, if you have to climb IN to it and close a door or hatch, that's driving, not riding.

It should be called an Outriggercycle or something.:laugh

That, or take the top off, and cut holes in the sides so the rider can stick his legs out...:smoke

The statement about cutting holes in the sides so he "can stick his legs out" is totally ridiculous. Think of it, he's going 350 MPH and his brakes fail and his chute fails. He may be tempted to stick his feet out to stop. This could result in serious injury and maybe enlarge the two holes in the liner causing further expense! At best, he would probably have to resole his boots and that is not cheap nowadays.

Yep, and I've seen that bike in person. Even got to stick my head thru the engine access door and give that old Ironhead Sportster motor a good look.

Pretty fast for an Ironhead....:clap:clap

If a guy is going 350 mph and sticks his legs out, for whatever reason... He's an Idiot and gets what he deserves.

Of course I was just kid'in. However, when I read your response above, which I totally agreed with, I really laughed out loud. That was one truest and funniest things I ever read on the forum.
