Seen this yet? (http://www.partsmag.com/0601/Saddlemen-0601/Saddlemen-0601.html) Looks like a good combination of comfort and style. Surprisingly the price is affordable too.

Looks good but seen no grab strap... Not bad price either if it is comfy as they say...

These seats look great, I'm tempted to try one.

If anyone else beats me to it, post a review.

American Iron had a short review a couple of months ago - it was extremely favorable - great comfort and good value. I'm still OK with my stocker, but if I upgrade, I wouldn't be afraid to try one.

I noticed this seat in the April issue of America Rider magazine. I think it looks pretty good too. I'm interested because I'm looking to replace my stock seat and the Lepera Daytona LT & Mustang Vintage Solo were my two favourites... but now I might consider this one.

Anyone with hands-on review???

It looks a lot like my leather badlander, which I am quite pleased with.

The article says its a Drag Specialties exclusive so they made them just for them there are alot of parts made that are specific to just one parts catalog and is a common practice of Parts Companies. Hence you will most likely not find it on Saddlemans Site or Catalog

It isn't on the Saddleman site, but is listed in the Drag Specs book/site.

I spoke to Saddlemen yesterday and the seat is not yet available as it brand new. As far as a Drag Specialties exclusive or not on Saddlemen's web site, you can buy it from the factory but they make it when you order it and you will wait for 6-8 weeks and pay $30 more for it. Their web site is being reworked and when it is finished, all of the 04 > seats will be on it. Drag Specialties will not have the seat until April 5th for $229 or you can buy it from Sorgys for $190 after Drag Specialties has it in stock. I'm going to order one as soon as Sorgy can get one and then my Mustang Regal Duke will be for sale. In the meantime, Drag Specialties has many Saddlemen seats for the new Sportys, just go to their site. Most of their seats can be bought in leather or synthetic. BTW, Saddlemen will make adjustments free of charge to their seats.

Ride safe, ride often.

Lots of good information there, thanks Bob. It's about time they upgraded that web site!

I'm not comfortable on my Mustang Regal Duke for much longer than the stocker. I tried the HD Pillow Look Touring seat before the Mustang and it was no better so I sold it. I've got no cushioning on my backside so my hip bones just go right to the seat pan. After a hundred miles or so it becomes a real pain in the rear. I'm going to buy the Pro Tour and if that doesn't work I guess I'll give up trying to tour on my Sporty. I don't care for solo seats so the Mustang Vintage is out. Once I get the Pro Tour I'll post a short review.:D

I've ordered one but it won't be here until late next month. I'm not sure if Saddlemen has any made up to sell. I spoke with them week before last and they indicated it would take at least 6 weeks to get one. As I stated in my last post, when I get mine I'll post a review. In the meantime I bought one of their Saddlegel Pads and it's quite nice. A big impvrovement than without one.

FWIW, I emailed them on the Saddlemen web site about availability of the Pro Tour, and whether they'd have a prototype or demonstrator model at Americade, and I never got a response back...

I always got a response to email but you're better off calling their 800 #. They will transfer you to the person that handles that area. As far as I'm concerned they've got one of the best customer service departments of any manufacturer I've dealt with including Mustang from whom I never got a reply to email. Yesterday I checked with my dealer and my order is still showing b/o to 5/25. At least when they do become available, I'll be one of the first ones to receive mine. My hope is that it's here before 5/25 so I can use it on my 1K trip on 5/25.:D

I do have a new Pro Tour in leather, ordered through our local Harley Dealer. I asked them to call Drag Specialties for a price (in CDN $s). They had one in stock so I grabbed it immediately - was delivered last week. Nice looking seat.

The only problem is I have the seat and no bike! My '06 883L is not expected to arrive until May 19th. I ordered an 883 Low in Black Pearl with lace wheels and security system. This Forum helped me decide to get a sportster! I haven't driven a bike since my Honda CT70 (~around 12 years old). I took a motorcycle safety course ~4 years ago and just now decided to get on the road.

BrianObviously we have opposite problems, you have a seat and no bike and I have the bike but not the seat. I'm still looking at late May for delivery. I have the Saddlegel Pad and it's nice but I really want the seat to replace my Mustang Regal Duke. Congrats on the new ride, I know you'll enjoy it. :D Be sure and post some pictures of it as soon as you get it.

Did you get your seat yet? I like the way it looks and I think I could buy the pillon seat for the wife to ride from time to time. I have the two up badlander seat now and it is not that comfortable.

Thanks,

I got it a couple days ago. Check this thread (http://www.xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?t=33298). I'm liking it so far. Only thing I did notice right away is that it's not as wide as the stock seat. I have a skinny a$$ so it doesn't really matter to me. But others might find that to be a problem.

A complete review is in the seating and luggage part of the Forum but in short, it was hard (gel pad inside???), narrow, and not comfortable. I don't recommend it to anyone. Stick with HD Sundowner or Mustang if you want a good aftermarket seat.

It's tough to compare the Saddlemen or any other seat for that matter, to a HD sundowner  (for 100% comfort sake)

I gave the Pro Tour a reasonable chance and it cost me a re-stocking fee to return it so this wan't a good experience for me. Had the seat been better than my Mustang Regal Duke, I would have kept it. It wasn't. I waited 3 months on that seat and it was a major disappointment Although I haven't sat on a Sundowner, all that I have read indicates that it's a good seat even for long rides. My comment about the Saddlemen being narrow and hard is my personal opinion and I didn't like it for that reason. Some riders may fall in love with it or perhaps I might have grown to like it but I couldn't keep it any longer and still return it, Saddlemen doesn't have a 30 day return policy. Please don't misunderstand my comments or take them out of context. This seat didn't work for ME I'm done trying seats because it's too expensive. This was my 3rd after market seat and my last. Some seats fit some people and not others. Good luck with your Saddlemen, I truly hope that you get lots of hours of riding pleasure on it.

i just recieved a saddlemen pro tour today from dennis kirk. i don' t like it. first thing i notice is it doesn't cover the top of the side covers, you can see the gray plastic clips that hold on the left side cover! it also left a gap at tank and the gap wasn't even. it is a little hard but i do think it would be more comfortable than the OE seat, it just doesn't fit my bike like i think a quality seat should

I think Saddlemen needs to re-engineer or design this seat so that it's wider and maybe not quite as hard. I had to pay a 20% restocking fee and that hurt a lot. Since this is my 3rd after market seat and I've lost money on 2, keeping my Mustang Regal Duke, I'm done buying seats. What I have will have to do. Money is too hard to come by just to throw away. Good luck with your new Saddlemen.

You're probably safer going that route. I think if anyone was expecting the seat to be comparable to a sundowner, they'll be disappointed. It was probably a mistake for Saddlemen to pitch it as a "touring" seat.

However, I have no complaints about the solo version I picked up. It's much much better than the stock seat I was sitting on. :) For your reference, I was considering the mustang vintage solo, LePera Bare Bones or Daytona. I think the Saddlemen is probably a better comparison for these seats. Although I'm sure there are those who would still prefer the others.

Before I ordered my Pro Tour I spoke to Saddlemen and was not encouraged to buy that seat. Instead, they have another two up seat for about $100 more and that one was recommended. Since I didn't have another hundred I opted for the Pro Tour. That was a mistake and I now know that. If I had saved for a little longer I might have saved myself some cash. Oh well......:(

When you spoke to Saddlemen, do you recall which model seat they recommended for touring? Thanks.
