added driving lights to the bike today. shouldn't be any reason for cagers not to see me now! bought the lights on ebay for about $30 and picked up a harness kit with relay at walmart for about $10. not too hard to install...spliced them in to the taillight wiring (since it was there underneath the seat) so they come on/ stay on whenever i fire her up. coulda put a switch in but thought i would try it this way first. i think the bulbs are 50w so we'll see what kind of draw i get on the battery.

Looks good, and saves the sleek Sporster look. Let us know who makes them.

Look good! Could you post a close-up of what you used to mount them?

My Bro has a set on his 93. Kuryakyn made his. They mounted directly by clamp to the fork tube on his. They are very brite and look very very good.

not sure who makes 'em, but the ebay link is there if you want to send the seller a question.

i actually mounted them to the bracket for the detachable windshield. you could also pick up a fork mount bracket like i used for the turn signals. picked those up on ebay too.

Just a heads up, as those look identical to the set I got from JC Whitney (for $11.99 :shhhh ). The lenses and bulbs got rattled loose from my set. You may want to apply some epoxy to stick those on real good.

Theoretically, they will draw 8.33 amps at 50 watts a piece.

I know....everybody hates a smart ass!:p

so is that too much of a draw for the system? i think i read something on another post about accessory limitations due to too much draw on the electrical system.

Your sporty's charging system won't keep your battery charged with that much current draw. I think the limit I've heard is about 35W bulbs for running lights.

And a switch - turn them off for the last mile or two going home to charge up the battery - that is what I doo when using my electric gloves, socks, and liner......

And maybe start using a battery tender.....

i looked at those and thought, why cant you just by stock turn signals and put a clear lens in them and use them as a driving light? would match the bike perfectly.

Much less light output. The ones he picked up will actually make you see spots after you look away. Ask my pinstriper... I warned him not to look :D
