I just thought of a great a way for you all to make some money.

All you have to do is write a letter to the editor of any motorcycle magazine and mention The XL Forum with the address www.xlforum.net and if it gets published, with the forum address www.xlforum.net in it, I will send you $50.00 - Can it get eaiser than that?

PM or email me a copy of your letter to the editor, BEFORE THE LETTER IS PUBLISHED so that I can verify that you are the one who wrote it. Then send me a copy of the magazine with the published letter and I will mail you a US Postal Money Order for $50.00 plus the price of the magazine and shipping.

Oh yeah, only one person will get the $50.00 per magazine, per issue. What this means is that if two people get their letter published in the same magazine in the same month the person whoes letter comes first in the magazine will get the $50.00.

Not for the sake of the $50 bucks ,but just to get the ball rolling. Here is a new one for the xlforum. An example of getting the word out. Its the new rule book for all the cmdra race guys and gals.
http://www.cmdra.com/index2.html

If the link doesnt work. its cmdra.com then click on the new 2006 rules on the left side.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR (http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?t=17383)

kiltbill

Thought I would maybe try and spread the message a little, so just about to send this off to a couple of UK Bike mags...

(Nothing to do with the $100.00! Honestly! No Mean Scotsmen jokes now!)

Thought you guys could be the first critics! NO guarantee that it will get published, but what's that saying again? Oh Yeah.. " If at first you don't succeed... GIVE UP" :D

And it’s all FREE…

I have been riding for over 28 years now and for the most part I have loved every moment! There has been the odd bad moments, careless drivers, having a spill, breakdowns and the vagaries of our wonderful climate in the UK. After a break of 10 years or so due to the dubious joys and responsibilities of parenthood! I got back into biking in 1996.

2 years ago I decided I had reached that age when I could eventually buy myself a new bike. Looked long and hard at everything from BMW to Ducati, I read the advice from the magazines, but I always ended up back at the Harley Dealer. Since I hadn’t won the lottery the Sportster was the only one in my budget. So I took the plunge and bought a new 883 Custom and had the Stage 1 tune done.

Now I know Harley’s are not the choice of all. But I have had more miles and smiles on this bike than I have in years, met some great people and every time I get it out I grin like the proverbial village idiot! The HD addiction soon set in and in my trawls through the World Wide Webby thing I found a place called the XLForum. I joined up, never having been a member of any forum before I had no idea what to expect, all I knew was they seemed to share the same passion for the Harley Sportster as I did. What I didn’t expect was to meet so many great people and make some very good new friends from all over the world.

The people on the forum have helped me learn more about my bike and how to work on it myself and considering a 3 fingered Monkey could probably handle a spanner better than me before joining the Forum this is like a minor miracle. Where else can you get FREE help and advice on just about every subject not just bikes. Share good and bad times with great people from all over this wee blue planet 24/7? Not only that it’s free to register and there’s no pressure to become a Member.

I’m know there are Forums for everything these days, and I’m sure many of them are as good, but if you love riding whether you ride a Harley or not pop in to the XLForum and say Hello you will be very welcomed. And to all the Guys and Gals on the Forum who have shared my passion and helped out, a Huge thank you.

Bill

Well Bert.. I got the XLForum.net into the November 2006 Issue of American Iron Magazine. It's on page 38 of the letters section under the title
"BAD SPECS". They had inadvertantly listed the wrong bore on a 1200 engine
so I sent them the correct spec with a shameless plug for our group.
Below is my letter and the answer from Chris Maida, AIM Editor.

Chris, on page 144 of the September 2006 Issue, you list the specs for a Klock Werks Custom with a stock 1200 Sportster engine. You got the stroke correct at 3.81", but you list the bore as 3.00". This incorrect. The stock
bore is 3.50" in a 1200cc engine. a 3.00" bore would make it an 883cc motor. We on the XLForum.net keep close track of these things.
Keep up the otherwise excellent work. Love the magazine and I recommend it
to all new XLForum.net members as the first one they should subscribe to.

I'm glad you got published... I should contact Chris and see if there is any movement on the riding story I submitted to them in the beginning of August. (They are having a contest for stories) I figured if they were interested in the story, they would have contacted me already, but maybe a follow-up email wouldn't hurt.

Once again, gratz! :banadanc
