View Full Version : My bike to be
1ltr8etr 18th March 2006, 04:27 Been browsing the photo gallery on this site for ideas on a few mods to my '97 XLH 1200. The attached link and photo is pretty well the look I am going for, but new to bikes and their mods so have no idea what I would need to get those handlebars. Can anyone tell me what parts and where I can find them to get these handlebars on a '97 XLH1200, or even if it is possible as a simple bolt-on job (the bike in the picture is a '04 + I think)? Thanks in advance
BTW - first ever post here - great forum for a HD newbie like me.

the handlebars look like a drag bar. they should fit on your bike with no problems.
Jeffytune 18th March 2006, 04:53 Hi,
Welcome to the asylum.
They are drag bars, and you may need to replace your front brake hose (For proper length) and you might need a clutch and throttle cables as well.
It just depends on how long they are.

Where are you located? Do you have pics of your ride as it exists right now?

boyer911 18th March 2006, 06:01 hey, your looking for flanders broom stick bars. they're just a version of a drag bar but straight as an arrow. most drag bars are ulled back to some degree. these are not. they are straight across the forks and riser. a nice custom look. i'm from canada so i hope the atached link works. check it out. let me know...

boyer911 18th March 2006, 06:14 sorry buddy, after taking a closer look it looks like those bars have a slight pull back to them. i've got the same bars on my bike. i've included the link below. great bars. it gives the bike a really slammed look. what type of bars are you currently running. you may not need to change your cables...

Not sure who's scoot that is, but the bars are some sort of drag bar, as previously mentioned. I can't really tell from the pic if it's a broomstick bar (straight) or if it has a little pullback.

1ltr8etr 25th March 2006, 23:26 cool - congrats on your bike and thanks for the info on the bar. Did you need to also change the risers or did you just bolt the drag bar onto the stock ones. Was there much of a change in reach with the new bar? Thanks again, and good looking HD you have there.

yeah, I just bolted them on w/ the stock risers. There is definately a difference in reach/feel. It's more of a sportier feel now w/ the drag bars. A lot of people will say that you wont like the drag bars.....but I love it now! No pain or discomfort, but just a different feel for the bike.
