Here are the 4th gear dyno results with the Samson Caliber 2 into 1 pipe on my '04 XL1200C with SE air cleaner. I put the larger baffle in the pipe just before this dyno run. The red bar is after a rejet. The input from the dyno guy at Chick's in Albuquerque is that a little more back pressure may drive the numbers up some more and also help even out the lines. There have been no other performance mods to my bike.

The max power is 71.46 @ ~6000 rpm.
The max torque is 77.33 @ ~3500 rpm.

Not too bad for stage 1. I can definitely feel the torque kick at about 3000 rpm.

Thanks for posting the dyno. Its always interesting to see what a certain pipe does for you. Man, that rejet had a big impact on your torque curve. Looks good.

Hey - someone else from Albuquerque!!! Hows it going?

How much did Chicks charge for the dyno? I need to bring mine down to get numbers on my Bubs and Nallin Hurricane flow AC.

I have a few questions about the Calibur pipes. Do they require or offer heat shields. The Calibur web site (http://www.caliberexhaust.com/) doesnt offer a lot of info on this subject. Have your pipes started to blue at all? An one last question, how do they sound...Okay one more if you dont mind me asking, how much did they set you back?

Drag Specialties answered the question about the heat shields. Keyword Caliber.

That rejet really helped the air/fuel mix too...a little shakey in the low revs, but just about dead on for the rest. Ccan't get much better with a carb. machine.

Joshuasws6,

Chick's is still running their special right now for $20 dyno runs. It's much better than the regular price of $50 or so. They're running that special through the end of February.

Luckymic,

The sound is very cool. To me it sounds like a cross between stereotypical Harley rumble and 70's hotrod. At idle they have a decent rumble but they are not obscenely loud. When cranking on the throttle, they make some noise. I wouldn't rev them too much near any cops for fear of getting a ticket.

I got the pipes through JP Cycles when they were having a 10% off sale and free shipping. I paid $450, they are normally $500. I've been very happy with the pipes and I like the fact that I don't see them on too many bikes. They also fit the lines of the sporty very well.

Thanks for the posting,

Out of all the pipes I've researched, I've been set on these, just waiting to save some cash up for em. You answered some of my questions, I was wondering on the perfomance gain and sound. Figured all had to be good!! I've have a 04 1200c and look forward to the pipe purchase.

What size for the rejet?

Any problems with location of back header where it curves up towards the front? I already have a bad habit of resting my heal on my stock exhaust.....

Appreciate any feedback you can give.
Thanks,
ST

You will definitely like the look, feel and sound of the pipe. The install isn't bad at all. I heard some of the horror stories that people had about trying to install their pipes. The Caliber went on without too much sweat and the heatshields and mounting hardware fit perfect.

I need to dig up my receipt to be sure on the jet size. I'll post that as soon as I find out for sure.
