I bought a 2001 Buell X-1 Lightning motor which came with all the electronic components to include the wiring harness, ecm, fuel pump, switches, breakers etc. I'm putting it in a custom bobber project but I want to convert it back to carburation. There are just the many components in the electrical system to run it stock with DDFI and have a clean little bobber.
Here's my questions. Do I need to get a different ignition if I am going back to carb. If so, what kind? I know I need an intake manifold because the stock DDFI ones have the throttle bodies going into them which I intend to sell. What kind of carburetor do you recommend for best performance? Is there anything else that I need to change this Fuel Injected Buell X-1 into a carburated sportster with buell tags? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

If you want to convert back to Carb, you will need a new ingnition, either a pignose unit, or a standard ignition with the pickup that goes in the pignose. You will need to get a XL intake, they are cheap and easy to install. You will also need the VOES switch to advance the timing. As for a carb, i would recommended the Mikuni HSR 42, or a modified CV with accel pump.
