Finished the install of my S&S a/c and slipons the other day and it finally warmed up enough (about 44f) for this old fart to take the bike out for a test run. Running a 45 pilot and 180 main with the S&S provided needle, 2 1/2 turns out on the pilot screw.
Impressions - WOW! The sound of the slipons is just about exactly what I was looking for. Throaty, maybe even raspy but not nearly as loud as I was expecting when I saw them for the first time. They bark pretty good when you get on the throttle but otherwise are nice and mellow. Perfect.
Carburation seems just about right as well. No farts or stumbles once the bike was warmed up and a very noticable bump in throttle response, especially in the mid range. It feels much 'sharper' if you know what I mean. Strong pull through the rev range from idle on up. Nice. I didn't have a chance to open her up but tomorrow I'll do the superslab and try some full throttle runs and see what she does.
So far I'm very happy with the S&S Quick Setup Kit. It looks great and seems to perform the same way.
