Hello All,
My budy just picked up a 2004 w/ 42 miles, for 2,600. A freakin deal:doh

He mentioned that the previous owner said there was no choke b/c it had EFI. Is that the case? EFI?

Not EFI....Just an automatic choke.

They have a carb.

Are these automatic chokes reliable?

The carbs are reliable but they are not good for performance.

Actually, it is an automatic enrichener.
It (ours is a 2002) does a very fine job. After about 30 seconds you can hear it turn off - the revs drop a lot.

It will only kick back in if the engine gets too cold.

I was pretty sure of that.

He mentioned that he has only taken it around the block a few times and that it is not a power demon. I seem to think you could unleash some power, but I don't see alot of talk about the blast.

We can do some really neat things with a Blast. In fact my wifes will be going through a transformation soon. I am hoping to get around 45+ rear wheel hp out of it. Stock they have around 28.

Damn...that's touching 883 territory, is it not?

I always likes the Redneck Engineering frames with the single-cylinder blast engine in there - looked neat to me.

I had a 2001 until I got the Sporty, and my father still has an '02 that he rides 40 miles/day back and forth to work all summer to save on gas.

Just opening up the intake and trading the "boat anchor" exhaust out for a more performance model made a HUGE difference. Badweb has a whole section just for the thumpers and a lot of the folks there are bery knowledgable.

In addition NHRS has fixed up at least a few that I know of <grin> and can most likely give you some performance ideas.

And yes, it is an auto-enrichener, I just could not think of the term when I posted earlier <sigh>....still not FI though.....

Hitting around 50hp at the rear wheel, 600cc conversion and a few extra goodies, at 280lbs and change, it goes...

Howdy all,
I am writing to you on behalf of the same friend. He did join the forum, but I don't think he doesn't realize it's full potential. At any rate:

The other day he started his blast and a few minutes later he noticed that the bike had "walked" a few inches from where it was prior to it starting. Vibration and light bike may not mix. Well, yesterday he moved the bike to more level ground, started it to warm up and went inside to grab his gear. He comes out to the bike laying on it's side. He is sure that no one came along and pushed or bumped it and there were no sevre winds at that time. He is pissed, to say the least( broken turn signal, bent right brake handle, various scrapes and dings). Have other blast owners had this problem? If so, did buell do anything about it?

Thank yall.....:smoke

Not a good idea to idle a Blast while on the sidestand. Like all thumpers, it vibrates a lot and the stand is barely adequate. We only start ours if either my wife or myself is on it. Also, tell your friend to not be afraid to rev it up. The Blast vibrates like hell at low revs, but smooths out once you get the revs up. Not a great freeway runner (because of the weight, not the speed), but loads of fun on twisty back roads.
