Now I have to wait through the next 500 miles to see how the Zippers 1200 really feels..

Currently I ride about 700 miles a week so those 500 miles would be out of the way rather quickly.

Nice upgrades!!! I like the new seat and rims a lot. Good job!

Btw, are those Crown Royal bags covering the rods? No wonder it took so long to get this project done and the bike out of the basement, wrench a screw, take a sip, wrench another screw, take another sip. :D

Looks nice and I bet the extra oomph feels good as well.

By the way, you interested in selling that front laced wheel?

Nice looking exhaust! I put the same pipes on my bike, but unfortunately I haven't been able to start it yet. It has been way too cold, and I can't wait to hear them run. What are your first impressions of them?

Thanks for all the compliments,

I don’t think I’d ever have finished the work if I was the Crown Royal drinker… My in-laws have way too many of those bags laying around. I use them for everything from holding junk in my golf bag to protecting my shooting glasses, and now protecting my bike while it was undressed.

Dwardy,
I might be interested. How about if we talk about this off-line? You can E-Mail me at sharpmj@yahoo.com

I really like the exhaust on a couple of levels. I like the looks because they’re a bit different that the other 99.9% of Sportsters running either a set short duals or 2 into 1‘s. The sound is very deep and moderately loud. They’re not going to make your ears bleed, but the neighbors will know you’re coming…

The pipes are kickers from Hard Krome. I got mine brand new on ebay from dennis kirk for $150 plus shipping. I thought it was a hell of a deal.

Yep,
They're HK Kickers. If you want a set better look quick, HK quit making them (and a bunch of their other Sportster pipes too).

Looks nice, congrats on the job. Hope your free and clear.
Hey explain that cross over pipe. Is that for support or do some exhausts need them? Seems like the new sportys don't have them??

You have done a great job, the HK pipes and thunderstar wheels really make the bike stand out.

I really feel for you guys and gals that live up north in the winter time. Us here in the south don't know how well we have it when it comes to riding our bikes nearly year round.

Spring is coming hang in there.

Chuck,
The cross over on the stock pipes is real. I'm far from being an expert, but I believe that the crossover increased performance on the low end and mid range. Maybe one of the more technically knowledgeable will jump in on that.

longshot, I'm impressed that you could call the rims by name, have you been looking at them? They're kind of a satin finish, I really like the understated finish over the bright chrome stuff.

Hey Mike,

I work for Harley part time and I also have a set on my 02 lowrider. I am like you the smooth finish trimed in black really looks good with the black engine trim.

Keep up the good work.

Yes, the crossover is a good thing. Better low end and driveability. Can be unsightly...or not. The '04 and up models use the hollow muffler mount to connect both cylinder's exhaust as opposed to the earlier crossover that was, too visible.
