hey thanks for the feed back checked wires looked good installed new regulator put a full charged battery in an fired up rode for a while now wont start starter clicks n clicks but wont turn over . could be starter right ? but if the battery is drained again it would make the same clickn sound right ? so spose i should try a new stater ???? any one else have one of these rockets 1987 1100:smoke

did you check the stator output? take a voltmeter set it to AC-50 volts or so. and plug both the red and black into the stator plug.(the female one) The book calls for 12-18 volts AC per 1000rpm. For example at 2000rpm you should be making 24-36 volts. If not the stator is crap and needs replaced. Have fun with that! figure on a weekend to take it all apart and together again. Also check the magnets in the clutch drum. if they are loose that would explain the no charge condition.

Hate to say it, but it sounds like you need to pull the clutch hub. Check the primary drain plug for lotsa "fur". When the magnets get trashed they make a mess. Mine ate the stator as well. You can check (AC) voltage at the stator plug.

thanks man also my bike was switched over from stock to straight pipes someone told me the evo motors need back pressure thats why my mid range is so choppy I want my bike loud cause I want the cages to hear me coming can i just get some baffles to put in ? I really dont want to put mufflers on it. the same guy mentioned " power cones " ever heard of em ?

When you replace the clutch hub or glue the magnets back on, look into getting a Zippers billet trap door. The root problem is always the sloppy bearing in the door.
