Dear Harley,
I purchased a set of screaming eagle pipes from the new HD catalogue (with catalyst) and wanted slash cut, so paid up front and was put on order. They arrived really quickly at the dealer, so picked them up. Got home and on closer inspection it said Baloney cut on the box. Confused i checked the numbers on the box, and yes it was the right number according to the catalogue. Also, it had the little hand on the side that said, not for use on the road in good old California. ?????? I then checked on the web site for Harley Davidson, and found that the number was different on the web site...... Feeling confused, i called where i bought the bike from, and they said bring it back we will sort it out, but they didnt seem to understand what the problem was. Not wanting to waste a long trip i phoned my local store and they said come on over, we will sort it and ship it to the store where you bought them, they will sort it, and we will have them ship it to us to save you the journey. Thats what i call customer service. I still havnt got them yet, but it just goes to show that the proof readers either need to get paid more, or Harley needs to increase the quality control of their computer parameters. But i still LOVE my Sportster :D

I noticed a difference in part #'s also... but finally got it straightened out:

80415-04 -- the "newer" Screamin' Eagles (have H-D scripting on them), which are 49-state legal.

60423-04 -- the older one's, which are not legal for street and are louder. these have "Screamin' Eagle II" script on them. i got these not too long ago... they sound great.

The mufflers you state as the "newer" screamin' eagles are what are reffered to as "script" mufflers because they have the Harley-Davidson script on them. They are a little louder than stock, but are not the S.E. units.
