View Full Version : Resize Photos for the gallery.
bplinson 5th April 2006, 10:55 I have had quite a few people ask me about how to resize there photos so that they can upload them to the XL Gallery.
Well you can get a good FREE program that makes it easy to resize the one or multiple photos here: http://www.virtualzone.de/resizer
gronk62 5th April 2006, 11:10 And here's the one I use..
XP PowerToys (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx)
Its about 3/4 the way down the page called "Image resizer"
Its the simplest and quickest one I've ever used.
Just right click on the pic, click "image resize" and choose the size ya want or make it a custom size.
All done in 10 seconds.

Make sure you've saved the pic in jpeg format. Other formats work (not all) but jpeg gives a good balance of pic quality and file size :)
gomorley 12th June 2007, 14:17 This is what I use and it's reasonably simple and a free download
www.multipleimageresizer.net
gomorley 12th June 2007, 14:24 Another option is to pay your dues and become a member!!!! this allows you to post more photos and of a larger size.
Bill2 12th June 2007, 15:03 Any of those programs work with vista?

Lenster 11th August 2008, 01:20 How do I resize photo's hosted on another website? Is it possible to keep the original size of the image on the host website but have it appear smaller on this forum? Or do I resize the photo before adding it to the host website?

That's my new Pingel Flame Petcock, if you couldn't see it in the picture.

That pic is WAAAAAAY too big for posting on internet forums.
Max comfy size should be around 1024 X 768, but 800 X 600 is pretty much the norm
Your pic is also too large in the file size. Its nearly 1.5 MB and takes a fair while to load for those of us with slower internet connections.
Under 500 KB is a better size.
In answer to your question, you need to download the image, resize it, and upload to wherever you store you pics. :)

Much better. Still a big file size though, but better.
You only need one set of IMG tags though
