Didn't have to fool with my battery yet. Lots of horror stories though. Not looking forward to it.

My wife said if I had 2 more inches she'd have been real happy to. Those 2 inches of battery cable would justify a cost increase of probably $1,000 or so.

the short battery cable was the first thing to break for me, the cable was corroded at the connector on the starter, I hit a big ass bump on the way home and it broke the last few strands, and quit running. it took a while to isolate the problem on the side of the road. when it was on the stand nothing happened, when i sat on it all the lights worked but it would not start. Had another rider stop to help, just about the time i figured out that if i held the battery in with my leg it would start. the other rider was not a help fixing the problem but he was nice enough to follow me home. I scrapped the short cable, got a a new cable from autozone about 18 inches long, cut the battery terminal end off, solidered on a new terminal lug, wrapped the new cable in plastic protective jacket, and made a loop behind the battery tray. problem solved with lots of length to spare.

Yeah! What he said!
Sure isn't much wiggle room in there with that short cable.

I've had to take my battery out several times and have come to the conclusion that the Harley engineers were on "crack" when they got around to the battery. "Lets put it in backwards and use just enough cable to reach.":censor

:iagree Maybe Harley and the Stealers do not want you taking that battery out yourself. $$$$!!! I bought a battery tender and started installing the pigtail. I had stop working and run to the store to buy a universal for my 1/4 " drive set. It was still a pain in the a**.
