Is it just me or do black side covers on a non black bike look wrong?
It can not cost much to have the bike look like it does not have a mismatched part put on after an accident.
Maybe I'm crazy and it's just me but match the paint job.

To help increase moco profits when you repaint/replace.

Cheers,

So harley can make 170. I think it is an effort to to make you spend money. Nothing a can of paint and an airbrush can't solve.

Ya and me too pearl yellow with black side covers looks so wrong...Its not fair, If your bike is black then you get black side covers. How stuped would it look, you buy a black bike and it comes with red side covers really wrong that if your bike is not black you have to go buy color matched sidecovers....
That sounds all wrong lol you get my point.....

Or just take them off. It's not like anything is going to fall out.

I bet there black because the factory made the mistake of making colored triangular side covers about 20 years ago and got a lot of sh^&t for making bikes that looked like the late seventies metrics.

Cost me $170 too but it was worth it the bike looks sooo much better now.

So that when the original clips for the side cover do not hold, the cover falls onto the road and gets run over, you don't feel so bad paying $170 because you knew you were going to change them anyway!

Maybe its just me but I like the black side covers much bettter than the color matched ones. The black matches the frame anyway.Or if you want them to match...just buy a black bike:clap

I don't have a problem with it, hmm, they are color matched to my bike! ;)

Definitely so the Moco can suck more $$ out of the people who aren't happy with the side covers.

YA, lets make fun of the MOCO. They're damned either way.
I don't mind black. I DO mind having to replace a retaining clip
with a tie wrap to make sure the battery cover stays on.

I like the black ones too. I have seen bikes where I like the colormatches ones, usually the lighter colored bikes. But someone on here mentioned that my bike would look better with colormatched sode covers, and they got me thinking. Oddly enough, I saw a twin to my bike, same color and all, the next day, only it had color matched side covers. I thought I was going to throw up it looked to bad.

I don't mind the black side-covers. They look fine to me! Sort of goes with the blacked-out engine. :)

That's my exact thoughts....I've got a paint can, but I can't paint 'em if they're laying on the hiway somewhere....:doh
To hell with what color they are, just make 'em stay on...

They got me for the $170 also but I'm happy. HD has their marketing down pat. HD = hundred dollars.

They are there to allow you to express your inner artistic freedom....

Or....

They too cheap to paint them and too greedy wanting you to pay more for them painted.

take your pick.

I like the black side panels on the roadsters. I do think the color match look good on the customs though.

What are side covers? Is that the battery/oil tank cover on the 04-later models?

I bought a black bike, and since its an 06 1200R EVERYTHING MATCHES sidecovers, engine, frame, you name it, it matches... i love it.

The side covers are only since 04, right?
I thought they looked better without side covers but I have them so I deal with it. It seems black is supposed to make them less noticeable or something.

Just another reason to buy black in the first place.

Just another reason to buy black in the first place.

This is the second non black bike I've owned since 1990, the first was 1970 Chevelle SS green that I painted myself (Green Hell).
Although I like the color of my current bike, I can't argue the fact that you can NEVER go wrong with a black bike. Most of mine were black (again, painted myself).

It's a proven fact that your bike goes faster with black!
Colors just slow you down!
