Wait! Wait! I think y'all need to fill out this application prior to posting on here!

A True TEXAN

Only a true Texan knows the difference between a hissie fit and a conniption, and that you don't HAVE them, you PITCH them.

Only a true Texan knows how many fish, collard greens, turnips, greens, peas, beans, etc..., make up A MESS.

Only a true Texan can show you or point out to you the general direction of YONDER.

Only a true Texan knows exactly how long DIRECTLY is - - as in, "Going to town, be back directly."

All true Texans, even babies, know that sayin' "Gimme some sugar": is not a request for the white, granular sweet substance that sits in a pretty little bowl on the middle of the table.

All true Texans know exactly when "by and by" is. They might not use the term but they know the concept well.

Only true Texans know instinctively that the best gesture of solace for a neighbor who's got trouble is a plate of hot fried chicken and a big bowl of cold potato salad. If the neighbor's trouble is a real crisis, they also know to add a large bananer' puddin'.

Only true Texans grow up knowing the real difference between RIGHT NEAR and A RIGHT FUR PIECE. They also know that JUST DOWN THE ROAD can be one mile or 20.

Only a true Texan both knows and understands well the difference between a redneck, a good ol' boy, and po' white trash.

No true Texan would ever assume that the car with the flashing turn signal is actually going to make a turn.

A true Texan knows that "fixin'" can be used as a noun, a verb, or an adverb, mainly to be accomplished soon.

Only true Texans make friends while standing in lines. We don't do QUEUES, we do LINES, when we're "in line," we talk to everybody.

Put 100 true Texans in a room and half of them will discover they're related, even if only by marriage.

True Texans never refer to one person as "y'all."

True Texans know grits come from corn and how to eat them.

Every true Texan knows tomatoes with eggs, bacon, grits and coffee are perfectly wonderful; that redeye gravy is also a breakfast food; and that fried green tomatoes are not a breakfast food.

When you hear someone else say, "well, I caught myself lookin'," you know you are in the presence of a genuine Texan.

Only true Texan say "sweet tea" and "sweet milk." Sweet tea just indicates the need for sugar and lots of it. We do not like our tea unsweetened. Sweet milk means you don't want buttermilk.

A true Texan knows that if you are with a couple of friends, you'll could be with 2 or 10. The number does not matter.

A true Texan knows you don't scream obscenities at some little old ladies who drive 30 MPH on the hiways. You just say, "Bless her heart" and go your own way.

:D

How about a little humor while you guy's are still countin.....A lady went into a bar in Waco and saw a cowboy with his feet propped up on the table. He had the BIGGEST boots on she had ever seen!!! The woman asked the cowboy, "Is it true what they say about men with big feet?" The cowboy grinned and said, "Shore is, little lady! Why don't ya'll come on down to the bunkhouse and let me prove it to ya?" The woman wanted to find out for herself, so she spent the night with him................The next morning she handed him a crisp 100 dollar bill. Blushing, he said, "Well, thankee, ma'am. Ahh'm real flattered. Aint nobody ever paid me for my services before". The woman replied, " Don't be flattered.....take the money and buy yerself some BOOTS that fit !!!!!" :smoke

Another Abilene guy! I use my '99 883XL (1200 Conversion) for 100 mile round trip work commute to Sweetwater area, weather permitting. At the risk of incriminating myself, I am actually Arkansas native son. I have lived in Texas since 1982.

The engine's runnin' but ain't nobody driving
Not overly-intelligent

As welcome as a skunk at a lawn party
(self-explanatory)

Tighter than bark on a tree
Not very generous

Big hat, no cattle
All talk and no action

We've howdied but we ain't shook yet
We've made a brief acquaintance, but not been formally introduced

He thinks the sun come up just to hear him crow
He has a pretty high opinion of himself

She's got tongue enough for 10 rows of teeth
That woman can talk

It's so dry the trees are bribin' the dogs
We really could use a little rain around here

Just because a chicken has wings doesn't mean it can fly
Appearances can be deceptive.

This ain't my first rodeo
I've been around awhile

He looks like the dog's been keepin' him under the porch
Not the most handsome of men

They ate supper before they said grace
Living in sin

Time to paint your butt white and run with the antelope
Stop arguing and do as you're told

As full of wind as a corn-eating horse
Rather prone to boasting

You can put your boots in the oven, but that don't make em biscuits
You can say whatever you want about something, but that doesn't change what it is

That's a fur piece.
It'll take you awhile to get there

Don't worry 'bout the mule son, just load the wagon
just do your part and I'll do mine

Don't call him a cowboy, till you've seen him ride
Don't judge a book by its cover

She's been rode hard and put away wet
refers to an unnattractive, hard-looking woman

toad choker
a heavy rain

frog strangler
also a heavy rain

finer than frog hair
use anywhere you might use the word "fine"

rarer than hen's teeth
pretty darn rare

tump
to spill, as in "I jes' tumped over mah beer"

coke
Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Sprite, Mountain Dew, Big Red, etc.

Hi Don! Of course we get over on that side of the bridge (I assume you mean the Fred Hartman). We were at Pelican Junction for that benefit they had last month. If you were there, did you see that red trike with the trunk modeled after that Chevy Z71? That wasn't mine, but I was looking at it! Haha! That thing had reverse! We never go on any planned trips, always playing by ear, but we almost always end up at the Junction at some point; or over at Riverside Inn. Hope to meet up with you some day. That would be neat!

A biker from Texas had gone on a ride to visit some friends in Boston. He was supposed to meet his friends at an up-scale bar where some local college kids also happened to hang out. When he pulled in, he had been on the road for a while and needed to use the restroom.

He noticed his friends had not arrived yet, so he asked one of the customers, "Hey buddy, where is the bathroom at?"

The customer sneered and said, "Here at Harvard, we don't end our sentences in prepositions."

That's not it at all. It took 1400+ people to realize just how few of you there really are.

What is it Azzhole, I mean Gazza, 32 I think.

Wow 32 in a state a bazillion times bigger than my state. And I think there are at least 3 of us.

Let's see now 3 times a bazillion = 32

Interesting.

Geez, Mike, What's one Texan between friends? Besides,

A large group of Taliban soldiers are moving down a road when they hear a voice call from behind a sand dune....
"One Texas soldier is better than ten Taliban"

The Taliban commander quickly sends 10 of his best soldiers over the dune, whereupon a gun-battle breaks out and continues for a few minutes then silence.

The voice then calls out..... "One Texan is better than one hundred Taliban"

Furious, the Taliban commander sends his next best 100 troops over the dune and instantly a huge gunfight commences. After 10 minutes of battle, again silence.

The Texan's voice calls out again.... "One Texan is better than one thousand Taliban"

The enraged Taliban commander musters one thousand fighters and sends them across the dune. Cannons, rockets and machine gun fire ring out as a huge battle is fought. Then silence.

Eventually one wounded Taliban fighter crawls back over the dune and with his dying words tells his commander.....

"Don't send any more men....it's a trap....there's 33 of them!"

Driving Through Texas

Barry and I are driving through Texas when we get pulled over by a state trooper.

The trooper walks up, taps on the window with his nightstick, Barry rolls down the window, and the trooper smacks him in the head with the stick. Barry says, "Why'd you do that?

The trooper says, "You're in Texas, son. When I pull you over, you'll have your license ready."

Barry says, "I'm sorry, officer, I'm not from around here."

The trooper runs a check on Barrys license, and he's clean.

He gives Barry his license back and walks around to the passenger side and taps on the window. I roll the window down, and the trooper smacks me with the nightstick.

I say, "What'd you do that for?"

The cop says, "Just making your wishes come true."

I say, "Huh?"

The cop says, "I know that two miles down the road you're gonna say, "I wish that sucker would've tried that stuff with me!" :frownthre

The way Mike's been counting lately, he might as well hire this Texas Dog to do it! :D

One day a Texas rancher was bragging to his neighbor that his dog was so smart he could count.

The other rancher didn't believe him, so the first rancher ordered his dog to go count the geese in the pond out back. The dog took off, came back, and barked 4 times.

Both ranchers went out back to check if the dog was right, and sure enough there were 4 geese in sight.

Back at the ranch house the neighbor said that the dog was lucky and wanted more proof, so the rancher sent the dog off again.

This time the dog came back and barked 6 times, and when they went to check, sure enough there were 6 geese.

But the neighbor was still unsatisfied, and demanded another demonstration, so the first rancher agreed to send the dog out one more time.

On the dog's return he started humping his master's leg, then picked up a stick and started shaking it.

"I knew that fool dog couldn't count," said the neighbor triumphantly.

"Oh, yes he can," said the rancher, "you just can't understand him. He just said there are more f---ing geese than you can shake a stick at."

One day a New Yorker stopped in the little West Texas town of Rankin.
When he got out of his car the wind was blowing so hard he had to
lean into the wind as he walked to keep it from blowing him down.
As he approached the street corner he spotted a local man standing
there holding onto the lamp post. He asked the local, “Does the
wind blow like this all the time?” “No sir,” was the reply,
“Sometimes it changes and comes from the other direction.”

The young Texas rancher came running into the store and said to his buddy, "Bubba, somebody just stole your pickup truck from the parking lot!"
Bubba replied, "Did you see who it was?
The young rancher answered, "I couldn't tell, but I got the license number."

We got lots of fire ant mounds in Texas and if you stir em up your gonna get stung :cry1 can you relate to that I live out of Cistern about 2.5 miles offen the highway downs a gravel lane across the road from my sister in laws husband hog farm and down wind (when its out of the north) from the family hog farm. If it ain't hog aroma in the air its the smell of chicken houses down the road. In other words it can get kinda stinky where we live. This way I can fart all the time and mama don't say to much :laugh
Cistern is in Fayette county which was the home of the original chicken ranch(thats a whore house for you northern boys) till some city boy from Houston heard about it and started :cry1 :cry1 :cry1 :cry1 and they had to close it down.
