Hi all, I'm a semi newbie w/ first tech ?'s. Just did 1200 conversion on my '93 Storz streettracker. It was pretty straight forward. If I knew I didn't have to change the heads over to 1200's I would have done this long ago. Anyways, 9:1 to 10:1 compression. New Weiscos. Wow! I have a couple of ?'s. My stock carb pops and sputters a little, especially during warm up. All emissions removed. Wondering if it has something to do w/ the open V.O.E.S. fitting on top of carb. It's a vacumn hose. Should it be plugged? Also are there any good suggestions about rejetting or rebuild kits needed for the added cc's? Sorry for the long post. Any advice is appreciated. I've got to learn how to get pic's up as its a one of a kind. Never seen one like it on the streets. Thanks in advance:tour

I'm missing something...

Do you HAVE a VOES? What's it connected to? What carb?

Should be connected to your VOES

I am assuming the V.O.E.S. is the Calif. smog equipment (valve, hoses and cannister). It's been all removed. Is this Cal. only? Bike still runs good, way better than before the conversion.

The VOES works with the ignition and the advance. It lets it know when you're on the throttle (vacuum will be lower). So if it's not connected, it's probably advancing the ignition as if you're flooring it.

Are you getting any pinging?

The VOES is your timing control, put it back on.

And wile your at it, put the rest of it back too, there all passive systems that will not hurt perforomance, BUT the more people that take it off, the more ammo you give the EQMD and the EPA to come down on bike.....then you will have to put it back to being a 883 and stock.

Unless you are just track racing, put it back on.

Sorry, problem solved. My essential EVOS is now working. When I first did conversion from stock to tracker I must have left the electric hook up undone which I realize now is essential. Always leaked oil since. Bike runs great now w/ no oil leak. Vacumn is essential! Thanks everybody:banana

I have a CALIF. 01 XLH and removed the cannister and all related bracketry.
The system may not affect performance but it is an eyesore and it is quite heavy.
I shortened the 2 thin rubber hoses/lines that were attached and re-routed them.
I recently shortened and re-routed the larger breather line and added a cool looking external stainless & chrome air breather to its end, now hanging below the battery, above the swing arm pivot and behind the side mount license.
Looks sweet!!! and what every cafe' should be.
Will post pics when battery on camera gets charged.
Just me,

Here's the pics of the alteration and/or addition of the breather I made mention above.
Sort of dark due to lack of daylight, Sorry!
If interested, I'll submit better ones later.
