I'm interested in a 2001 M2 Cyclone for sale close to where I live. It only has 2000 miles on it. Has aftermarket exhaust and air cleaner - done at dealer with rejet. My question is after looking around on the net, it seems to be that there are some *very* negative comments on the earlier Buells. Not just the Blast bikes either. Problems include header studs, cracked exhaust, ECM failure, fuses blowing, Speedometer sender failure, oil leaks.... Other riders praise the bikes and love them. Should I ignore the naysayers and get the bike? How much would(should) a minty 2001 M2 go for? They seem to have horrible resale value (good for me). This guy is the original owner and paid $10K (so he said, probably true after tax and license etc..)

Any special problems to look for? It has low miles, so maybe the problems just haven't happened (yet....)....

Its worth around $4500-5000. By 2001 the issues were worked out pretty well so you shouldn't have to worry too much.

I have an '02 S3T and LOVE IT!!!!! Cyclones are carbed and not F.I. so there are less problems, plus there are A LOT of hop ups that can be done...whether or not it is worth it is up to you and what is being asked for it...there are a lot of them out there if they are asking too much...
